Jeff Johnsen

Head Coach

Jeff Johnsen, the eighth head women's golf coach in UW-Oshkosh history, enters his second season leading the Titans in 2025-26. In his first season in Oshkosh, Johnsen mentored his golfers to a fourth-place finish at the WIAC Championship, the highest placement the Titans achieved since 2019-20. Taryn Endres led the team at the conference meet in Reedsburg with a total of 244 strokes over three days, taking ninth place and securing All-WIAC Second Team honors. UW-Oshkosh also took top-three positions at four meets during the season.  Johnsen spent the previous eight seasons coaching girl's golf at Bay Port High School, accumulating seven Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Association (WIAA) sectional titles which qualified the Pirates for the WIAA State Tournament, six regional titles and six straight Fox River Classic Conference championships. Johnsen coached a student-athlete to three consecutive individual state titles from 2018-2020 and in 2021, Bay Port was the state runner-up by just one stroke. (7/17/2025)

Liza Ruetten

Assistant Coach

Ruetten enters her fifth season as the head womens golf coach at UW-Oshkosh. Ruetten coached McKenzie Paul to three All-WIAC first team selections (2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16). Freshman Kayla Priebe earned her first All-WIAC first team selection in 2015-16, while junior Laura Stair and sophomore Micayla Richards earned second team selections for their performances. Last year, UW-Oshkosh won the WIAC title after finishing third in 2014, fourth in 2013 and seventh in 2012. The Titans began their fall of 2016 season by winning their own 10-team invitational. Winning the WIAC Championship earned the team an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship that was held at the Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas in May of 2016. The team placed 14th out of the 21 teams in attendance. Ruetten is the fourth head coach in the 19-year history of the UW-Oshkosh womens golf program. She has been playing competitive golf for nearly four decades, and in June of 2014 won the First Flight of the Wisconsin Womens State Golf Association (WWSGA) Match Play Tournament held at the Janesville Country Club in Janesville. In July of 2014, Ruetten took first place in the First Flight of the WWSGA Stroke Play Tournament held at the Lake Arrowhead Golf Course in Nekoosa. Ruetten won the Northeastern Wisconsin Golf Association Amateur Championship in 2007. She also took first place in the WWSGAs Mother-Daughter Championship three times and the WWSGAs Mother-Son Championship once. She has won the Oshkosh City Championship in 1998 and, most recently, in August of 2015. In 2014, Ruetten was runner-up to current UW-Oshkosh golfer McKenzie Paul in the Oshkosh City Championship. Ruetten was a member of Neenahs Ridgeway Country Club for nearly 20 years. She spent five of those years assisting the golf professional staff in club tournament organization and youth instruction. Ruetten, who played on the boys golf team while attending Winneconne High School, has been a teacher in the Neenah Joint School District since 2000. In 2011, she was named the districts Middle School Teacher of the Year for her work as a sixth-grade science teacher and team leader of the Phoenix House at Horace Mann Middle School. Ruetten, a 1988 UW-Oshkosh graduate, resides in Winneconne with her husband, Chris, also a UW-Oshkosh graduate. Her son, Justin, graduated from UW-Oshkosh in December of 2014. UW-Oshkosh began its women's golf program during the 1996-97 school year. The Titans won WIAC titles in 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2015, while finishing fourth at the 2004, fifth at the 2003 and 14th at the NCAA Division III championships. (8/8/2016)
