Philip Kuenzi

Head Coach

Kuenzi (pronounced kin-zee) enters his fourth season as the head men's and women's tennis coach in 2025-26. In 2024-25, Kuenzi coached Steven Benoy to a third-straight all-conference nod. In 2023-24, Kuenzi coached Benoy to All-WIAC honors in singles and doubles with partner, junior Frederick Diehl. His first season saw the reinstatement of the men's tennis program with Steven Benoy earning the first-ever All-NJAC nod for UWSP. Kuenzi also guided the women to the WIAC Team Tournament, the second straight appearance for the program. He came to UWSP from Lourdes Academy in Oshkosh where he last served as a middle school and high school technology teacher.   His tennis background includes head coaching stints at Roncalli High School and Xavier High School for a combined five years. He also served as assistant director of tennis camps as UW-Whitewater for the last two years and has been on the camps staff there more than a decade.   Kuenzi played tennis collegiately at Lewis University for two years and was an ITA scholar-athlete. At Roncalli High, Kuenzi was a four-year state qualifier in doubles and finished second at the state tournament twice.   He received his bachelor’s degree from Lewis in 2014 and completed his master's degree in 2019 at Holy Family College.
