Rob Robinson
Coach
Robinson begins his fourth season (2015-16) as a Blue Devil assistant men's basketball coach and is in his first year as the head coach of the Blue Devils men's golf team. After 16 seasons as a head coach at Northland College - eight with the women, eight with the men - Rob Robinson rejoined his college basketball coach, Eddie Andrist, beginning in 2012-13 as an assistant men's basketball coach. While at Northland College, Robinson was very active with various golf programs. Robinson was the instructor for the golf class in the physical education department, teaching fundamentals for 16 years. Robinson also served as the assistant golf coach at Ashland High School for one season. He worked at Chequamegon Bay Golf Club from 2002-12, serving as the junior golf supervisor, the assistant pro and the director of golf operations. Throughout his tenure at the club, Robinson worked with the junior program, with ages 5-17, directed day-to-day pro shop operations, planned leagues and tournaments and worked with customer service. Robinson was the Blue Devils' assistant men's golf coach for the 2014-15 season. A three year player at Mt. Senario College in Ladysmith when current UW-Stout men's basketball coach Eddie Andrist headed the program, Robinson began his coaching career at Northland College in 1994 as a mens assistant, helping them reach the NAIA national tournament in 1996. After two years with the men, Robinson accepted the position to become Northlands head women's basketball coach. Robinson turned the program around and was named UMAC Coach of the Year five consecutive years, leading the Lumberjills to five conference championships and two NAIA national tournament appearances. In 2004, Robinson returned to the men's program at Northland as their head coach. During his eight seasons, Robinson graduated four 1000 point scorers. Academically, his team achieved a 3.10 GPA or higher each year and the Lumberjacks received the UMAC academic award in 2009 with a 3.59. Robinsons collegiate basketball playing career took place from 1988-92 at Mount Senario College (Ladysmith, WI). Interesting enough, Robinson played three years for Coach Andrist and in 1991, Robinson was crowned a National Collegiate Basketball Champion as the Fighting Saints won their first ever national basketball title. "I am looking forward to being on the bench with Coach Andrist and the Blue Devils said Robinson. Coach Andrist has been a huge influence in my coaching career and I appreciate the opportunity given to me. I will do everything I can to help UW-Stout rise to the top of the best Division III conference in the nation." We are extremely excited and fortunate to bring a coach with such experience into our Blue Devil program said Andrist. He is a coachs coach and a players coach and all of us will benefit greatly from everything Rob brings to the table. Robinson received his bachelors in Recreation Management and Business from Mount Senario in 1993. Robinson and his wife, Diana, reside in Menomonie. (Updated June 2015)
