Mark Feinberg

Head Coach

Feinberg begins his 12th season as head coach of the Bears men's and women's swimming program. He became a full-time member of the athletic coaching staff in April of 2008.  Feinberg has been coaching swimming for the past 31 years 21 at the college level preceded by 10 with high school and club teams. Since taking over, the men and women have broken all 38 combined team records, and the teams together now own 11 Centennial Conference records.  Both teams have steadily climbed their way into contention of the Centennial Conference. Beginning at the bottom of the conference Feinbergs 1st year, the teams are now contending with the conference elite. In 2016, the Ursinus women won their third consecutive Centennial Conference crown, while the men finished 6th in the tightest CC men's meet ever. At the conference championship, the men and women combined to set 11 school records, 7 conference records and over 70 combined personal best swims. Feinberg was named Centennial Conference Women's Coach of the Year for the fifth year in a row. A native of Williamsport, Pennsylvania and a 1989 graduate of Shippensburg University, Feinberg came to Ursinus after spending 10 years as an assistant swimming coach at West Chester University, where he led the Golden Rams to multiple top-five finishes at the Division II championships during his tenure. After earning his masters degree in sports management from West Chester in 1997, he served as an instructor in the department of kinesiology until 2004. At Shippensburg, Feinberg was a four-year swimmer and two-time All-American. After college, he went on to swim at the YMCA Masters, becoming a six-time national champion. Feinberg is now an active tri-athlete and completed his first Ironman in 2007. He currently resides in Collegeville with his wife and three children.

Ryan Kennedy '09

Associate Head Coach

Ryan Kennedy, a 2009 graduate and four-year member of the men’s swimming team, returned to his alma mater as assistant swimming coach and Director of Aquatics in June of 2018. In addition to assisting head coach Mark Feinberg in all facets of the men’s and women’s teams, Kennedy directs the immensely popular Little Bears program and is also tasked with creating and directing additional revenue-producing aquatic programming.  Kennedy enters his 9th year coaching at Ursinus and was promoted to Associate Head Coach ahead of the 2022-2023 Season. During his time coaching at UC, the team has broken 32 School Records and have had 5 NCAA All-Americans. Kennedy has spent the entirety of his post-graduation life in swimming instruction, taking over as head coach and aquatics director of the Phoenixville YMCA since the summer of 2009. He has developed multiple YMCA national finalists, National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) All-Americans, and three YMCA national age group records have been broken under his watch. Kennedy coached at the USA junior and senior nationals and took a swimmer to the U.S. Olympic Trials in 2016.  Kennedy is a Level 4 ASCA coach with a certificate of excellence from the American Swim Coaches Association. Kennedy was a member of the men’s swimming team during Feinberg’s first four years as head coach. He was a two-year captain and graduated with five school records. He graduated from Ursinus with a degree in exercise and sport science and a minor in education and resides in Spring City, Pennsylvania with his wife Rachel and daughters Brooklyn & Bradleigh.

Sarah Kolosky

Assistant Coach

Kolosky is in her 3rd year as a member of the Ursinus College Men's and Women's Swimming coaching staff. Coming off of her brilliant career at Ursinus that saw her set team records, win conference titles and captain the 2012-13 women's team, she was the 2013 Olive Sargent Hamm Award winner and the Ursinus nominee for Centennial Conference Woman of the Year after holding a 3.5 GPA during her four years as an undergrad. Kolosky studied in Spain during the fall semester of her junior season and was the inspirational leader of the Bears' surprise run at the 2012-13 Centennial Conference crown, coming just 7 points shy in the meet's closest finish ever. Kolosky will spend most of the year serving the admissions office from her new home in southern California, but will join the team mid-season as the Bears travel to Ft. Lauderdale for their annual training trip.

Peyten Lyons '19

Assistant Coach

Peyten Lyons ’19 is beginning her fourth season as an assistant coach at Ursinus.  She was a four year swimmer at Ursinus and graduated as one of the best ever.  Peyten won 24 Centennial Conference Championships and collected seven All-Americans honors.  Also, a decorated high school athlete, Peyten is a member of the Palmyra (PA) High School sports hall of fame.  She still holds records at UC in 100 & 200 backstroke, 200 IM and all five relays. Peyten has recruiting duties for the Bears as well as her work on deck in practices and meets.

Dr. Marcus Wagner '17

Assistant Coach

Dr. Marcus Wagner ‘17 begins his fifth year as an assistant coach for Ursinus. Marcus comes from Dallas, PA where he specialized in distance freestyle events during his high school swimming career. Marcus was district champion and an all-state swimmer in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle for three straight years. He was also a part of the 200- and 400-yard freestyle district champion relay teams his junior and senior year. Marcus tabbed 4 school records and 3 pool records throughout his high school swimming career. Marcus joined the Ursinus swimming family in 2017 while he earned his bachelor’s degree with honors in Biology. While at Ursinus, Marcus grabbed 4 school records and still currently holds top 10 times in four events at Ursinus. He was also co-captain of the team his senior year. After graduating Ursinus, Marcus went on and pursued a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from Temple University’s Lewis Katz School of Medicine. Currently, Marcus is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Education and Data Sciences at Temple’s Lewis Katz School of Medicine.  Marcus is very active in the Ursinus community.  He has served as an instructor.

Matt McGuriman

Assistant Coach

McGuriman enters his sixth season as Bears assistant coach, and is in his fourth year as Director of Aquatics. McGuriman grew up in Pennsylvania and started swimming for the Hatfield Sharks at age 11. He coached the Sharks until 2010. McGuirman was a four-year letter winner at Lansdale Catholic High School and was the team's captain his junior and senior years. He was a member of the 400 free relay team that still holds the school record. McGuriman received his degree in English from Cabrini College and swam for the Cavaliers. He was part of the first relay to qualify for the ECAC championships and swam the 50 free and 100 breast at the meet as well. He holds five school records, including both breaststroke events and three relays.

Stephen Lyons '24

Assistant Coach

Stephen Lyons ’24 begins his second season as an assistant coach with the Bears.  Originally from Palmyra, PA, Stephen made a name for himself as a sprint specialist at Palmyra High School, where he was a four-year District 3 medalist in the 50-yard freestyle and a three-time PIAA state qualifier. He earned All-State honors twice in the 50 free and helped lead his team to three consecutive division championships. Stephen still holds school records in the 50 freestyle, 200 medley relay, and 200 freestyle relay.Stephen continued his swimming career at Ursinus, where he was a four-year member of the men’s swim team and served as team captain during his senior season. He finished his collegiate career ranked second all-time in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle, and third all-time in the 100-yard butterfly. Stephen was also a key contributor to the school record-holding 200 and 400 medley relays, as well as the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. His strong senior campaign earned him All-Centennial Conference honors. Following graduation, Stephen transitioned into the golf industry and currently works for the United States Golf Association (USGA), continuing his passion for sports and competition in a new arena.

Jerilyn Kucharski

Assistant Coach

Kucharski enters her 12th season as an assistant coach of the men's and women's swimming program. A 2004 graduate of West Chester University, she was a four-year varsity letterwinner and four-time All-American on the swim team under current Ursinus head coach Mark Feinberg. Kucharski was also a three-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference champion in the 200 medley relay, 100 backstroke and 400 medley relay. Her senior year, she was named captain of a team that was ranked fourth in the nation. She received the WCU Outstanding Scholar-Athlete award for the 2003-04 season, while earning the PSAC Scholar-Athlete award from 2001-03. A native of Salisbury, Pennsylvania, Kucharski earned a bachelor of science in criminal justice from West Chester. She currently resides in Quakertown with her husband.
