Sean Tedesco
Head Coach
Tedesco is entering his 16th season at the helm of both the mens and womens swimming and diving teams at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in 2016-17. Since his arrival at Kings Point, Tedesco led the mens squad to six consecutive Skyline Conference titles (as part of nine overall) and eight straight Landmark Conference Championships, the latter makes the Mariners the only team to win the men's crown in league history. Tedesco has also garnered 18 Coach of the Year honors through his 14 seasons. Tedesco has nabbed Landmark Conference Coach of the Year honors on five occasions (mens), the Skyline Coach of the Year Award nine times (six mens/three womens) and the Metropolitan Conference Mens Swimming Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2006. In 2005 and 2008, the Academy named him the recipient of the Coach Omeletchenko Coach of the Year Award. The 2011-12 campaign ended with a first for Tedesco as Kevin Lindgren qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials. Overall, Tedesco has coached five NCAA DIII individual national champions. During his tenure, the Blue and Gray have made 87 standards for the NCAA Division III Championships. After placing 30th during in Tedesco's first two years, USMMA finished 19th at the NCAA's in 2004 behind Joel Meyer, who was named National Diver of the Year. The 2005-06 team placed 21st at the NCAA Division III Championships as well as the 06-07 squad placing 25th. The 07-08 team finished in 25th while the 08-09 team placed 23rd behind Nick Halbach, who was also named National Diver of the Year. In 2009-10, the team placed 29th as Halbach claimed the individual title in both the 1m and 3m diving events. Tedesco's men's program has been a model of consistency, reaching the NCAA Championships in 13 consecutive seasons, including 12 top-31 finishes. Tedesco has coached 16 All-Americans with 37 All-American certificates. He has also coached 39 NCAA qualifiers and seen 184 Academy records and 251 conference/pool records broken. Tedesco's athletes also excel in the classroom with the 2001-02 and 2006-07 men's teams and the 2013-14 women's team securing Academic All-America honors. Tedesco has also had 13 athletes been named Academic All-American. Prior to his arrival at Kings Point, Tedesco served as the top assistant mens and womens swimming and diving coach at Villanova University. His responsibilities included designing, organizing, and running swim, dry land and weight training workouts for the teams while also coordinating all recruiting efforts. At Villanova, he coached one Olympian, three U.S. Olympic Trial qualifiers, two Canadian Olympic Trial qualifiers, one NCAA Champion and eight NCAA qualifiers. Tedesco earned his Bachelors degree in business administration from the University of Connecticut in 1998, where he was a member of the mens swimming and diving team. He earned the University Senior Athlete Award in 1998 and garnered Most Valuable Swimmer honors in 1996 and 1998. Additionally, Tedesco was a NCAA Division I qualifier, a Senior National qualifier and a Big East Champion in the 200-yard breaststroke. The Huskies were named a Big East Conference All-Academic Team in 1996 and 1997 with Tedesco on the roster. He then went on to earn a Masters degree in business administration from Adelphi University in 2003. Tedesco still stays active in his free time. In 2006-08, 2010, and 2011 he earned Triathlete All-American honors. He also completed in the 2012 NYC Ironman as well as the 2004 Wisconsin Ironman. Tedesco currently resides in East Meadow with his wife, Marissa and their daughters, Abigail and Amanda.

Johan Lopez
Coach
Lopez served the previous four years in the same position at his alma mater, Lehman College. He was a member of the coaching staff that led Lehman to the 2013 CUNYAC Chamnpionship. During his time here at Kings Point, Lopez has coached five of his divers to NCAA qualifying marks, has had one of his divers compete in the NCAA Championships and has had two of his divers named Landmark Divers of the Year multiple times. He has also had multiple divers win All-American honors and Academic All-American honors and he was part of the Landmark Coaching Staff of the Year all three seasons. During the 2015-16 season, Lopez coached three of his divers - Gerrit Porter, Blythe Fentress and Adam Fisher - to NCAA qualifiers, with Porter going on to the NCAA Championships and coming in sixth in the three-meter dive and 11th in the one-meter dive. Porter earned All-American honors for those finishes and Fisher was named an Academic All-American for his excellence both on the boards and in the classroom. Lopez also coached Porter and Fentress to win Landmark Diver of the Year honors. Beginning in 2016-17, Lopez will serve on the NCAA Committee for Division III Swimming & Diving for four year. The purpose of the committee is to develop policies and procedures governing the administration and conduct of the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships. As a committee member, Lopez is expected to attend the championships and the annual meeting each year. In 2014-15, Lopez coached four of his divers to NCAA qualifying marks - Gerrit Porter, Elizabeth Jackson, Blythe Fentress and Ryan Mavity. He also coached Porter and Fentress to Divers of the Year honors from the Landmark Conference. During the 2013-14 season, Lopez coached two of his divers to NCAA qualifiers - Gerrit Porter and Ryan Mavity. Porter was named the Landmark Conferecne Diver of the Year. Along with his diving coaching duties at USMMA, Lopez is also the head coach of Olympic Weight Lifting Team and the Aerial Club, and is the advisor for the Recreations and Outdoors Club. Lopez has been an active member of USA Diving since 2008. Lopez was a three-time CUNYAC diving champion, capturing individual crowns in 2007, 2008, and 2009 in his respected events. 3x CUNY All-Star and 3x Diver of the Year.
