Mike Parnell
Head Coach
Parnell is just the second head coach in the history of the Utica College men's lacrosse program and he is now entering his 12th season at the helm. He currently occupies an overall record of 69-97 over 11 seasons. On his home turf at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium, Parnell has posted a 40-43 mark. He has guided 39 All-Conference selections and several Pioneers into the record books during his tenure. This past season, he posted a 4-11 overall record with a 3-5 Empire 8 Conference record. This is the fourth year in a row that the Pioneers have had three or more victories in the conference. Parnell guided a program tying six players to All-Conference honors. Freshman Dominic Castiglia, junior Tyler Nicolaus, freshman John Hanlon, junior Rusty Dessert, and senior Aric Freishlag were all named to the honorable mention team while senior Brandon Souza was named to the Sportsman of the Year team. In 2015, Parnell posted an 8-8 overall record and a 3-5 mark in conference play. Parnells Pioneers have now won at least eight games in five of their last seven seasons and have registered a .500 record or better for the fourth consecutive season. Parnell guided four Pioneers to All-Conference accolades in 2015 including Sean Flanagan, Tom Bryne, Zach Stevenson and Andrew DiOrio. Byrne and Flanagan become the third and fourth players in program-history to have earned All-Conference accolades in three consecutive seasons, joining Mick Krajacic '12 and Michael Bulger '10. Parnell led DiOrio, UCs everyday goalie, into the single season record books with a program-best eight victories and an 8.26 goals against average. DiOrio's 15 career wins rank second all-time at UC and his 361 career saves ranks fourth all-time. His Pioneers opened up the first half of the 2015 season with a 6-2 record including a five game win streak where they outscored opponents 48-21 during that span. In 2014, the general guided five Pioneers to Empire 8 All-Conference selections, marking the second most representatives in program-history. Parnells group of Pioneers helped lead the program to eight victories as they finished with a final record of .500 or better for the third straight year. This year also marked the sixth time in program-history that UC has finished the season with eight or more wins. Three wins in the Empire 8 were tied for the second-most conference victories in program-history. He led senior Joe Schoen to a record setting season as he capped his career with a program-best 82 assists and is making his first appearance on the honorable mention list. Schoens third straight selection to the Sportsman of the Year team is a new school-record. He finished his senior season with a team-best 25 assists and ranked sixth in the E8 with an average of 1.56 assists per game. He also became the eighth player in program-history to join the 100 point club. Coach Parnell had his best season in 2013 as he led the Pioneers into the record books for wins in a single season with nine. He compiled a 9-7 overall mark including a 4-3 ledger in the Empire 8 Conference and UC's first trip ever to the conference tournament. Parnell guided UC to 4-of-6 victories in the conference to close out the year including the double overtime thriller at home to get into the playoffs. He led the team to school-records for shots attempted (660) and goals against average (8.43), while finishing fourth all-time in assists (109) and fifth in points (283). Parnell guided six Pioneers to All-Conference status, another school-record, as well as pushing senior attack Ben Winkler over 100 goals in his career for only the third time in program history. In 2012, he guided the Pioneers to an 8-8 overall record including 3-4 mark in the Empire 8 Conference and the programs first ever All-American, senior defenseman Mick Krajacic. Parnell tied the school record once again for wins in a season with eight and the team set a new program record for points and assists in a single-season with 318 (187 goals, 131 assists). The 187 goals scored ranks second all-time in the record books. Parnell coached the UC mens lacrosse team to eight victories in 2009, tying a school record for wins in a single season. As a team, UC scored 289 points (175 goals, 114 assists), good for second all-time. In the summer of 2009 Parnell spent a full season as an assistant coach for the Chicago Machine of the MLL (Major League Lacrosse). Parnell assisted Head Coach John Combs, whom he previously worked with at Colgate University. Parnell primarily worked with the offense and guided the Machine to a total of 242 points in 12 games. Parnell is a 2002 graduate of Utica College where he was a founding member of the Pioneer lacrosse program. He currently holds the school record for most points and goals in a game after netting eight goals and tallying two assists against Susquehanna in 2000. He ranks fourth on the college's all-time single season goal scoring list after finding the back of the net 33 times in 2000. Parnell served as assistant coach for the Utica men's lacrosse program from 2001-03 under former head coach and current Assistant Vice President for Advancement/Alumni and Parent Relations Tim Nelson. Prior to his arrival at Utica College, Parnell assisted the Jefferson Community College men's lacrosse program, and most recently completed back-to-back one-year stints as an assistant coach at Colgate University and Brown University. He currently resides in New Hartford, N.Y.

Gary Jackson
Assistant Coach
Jackson's 43rd year of coaching. He is responsible for assisting Head Coach Mike Parnell with recruiting, practice planning, and game management. Jackson came to UC after an extensive head coaching career at the high school and junior college ranks. After beginning his career as the head lacrosse coach at Binghamton High School he became the head coach at Broome Community College and helped them gain varsity status. He then moved on to become the head mens lacrosse coach at nearby Mohawk Valley Community College and after several seasons Coach Jackson was named the assistant lacrosse coach at Herkimer County Community College. Coach Jackson is a graduate of SUNY Empire State College where he earned his A.A.S. and B.S. degrees in Environmental Health Technology. He was employed for 30 years and retired from the IBM Corporation. His work responsibility included engineering and management of chemical, environmental, health, safety and security, internal auditing, and fraud investigation. After retiring from IBM Jackson worked as an investigator for a private investigation company working on criminal fraud cases. Jackson resides in Ilion, NY with his wife Colleen. Sean Behan
Assistant Coach
Behan was hired as an athletic assistant for the Utica College men's lacrosse program in the Summer of 2015. He will be responsible for assisting Head Coach Mike Parnell with all facets of the Pioneers lacrosse program including scouting, recruiting, practice and game preparation along with day-to-day operations in the office. A 2015 graduate of Utica College, Behan earned his bachelors degree in Criminal Justice Economic Crime Investigation. A four-year letter winner at UC, he helped the 2013 Pioneers to a school-record nine victories and the programs first-ever appearance in the Empire 8 Conference Tournament. In his career at Utica, Sean played in every single game of each season (48 total) while aiding a solid defensive unit. He competed at several positions including a long-stick midfielder, close defenseman, and he was a member of the man-down unit. Behan concluded his career with 25 ground balls, 20 caused turnovers and had three career goals on just four shots. While in high school at Jamesville-Dewitt (Syracuse, NY), Sean was the recipient of the Junior Coachs Award (2009) and the Players Sportsmanship Award (2010) for varsity football, and the Players Sportsmanship Award (2011) for varsity lacrosse. He was also a member of the 2010 and 2011 NYS Class B State Champion Lacrosse teams for Jamesville Dewitt, and finished his senior campaign as part of the No. 2 team in the country. Originally from Syracuse, NY, Sean is the son of Emily and Joe Behan and currently resides in Utica where he is pursuing his masters degree at UC.

Brandon Misiaszek
Assistant Coach
Misiaszek was hired as an athletic assistant for the Utica College men's lacrosse program in the Summer of 2014. He will be responsible for assisting Head Coach Mike Parnell with all facets of the Pioneers lacrosse program. Misiaszek spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach for the men's lacrosse team at Hamilton College under the tutelage of head coach Scott Barnard. In the three year span, he helped guide the Continentals to 23 victories and two consecutive appearances in the highly competitive NESCAC Conference Tournament. The NESCAC is one of the top athletic conferences in NCAA Division III, and mens lacrosse is no exception. Four NESCAC teams played in the 2012 NCAA Championship and one advanced to the semifinals. Misiaszek was instrumental in helping to develop 2012 NESCAC Player of the Year and First-Team All-American Jon Leanos, who finished his career ranked fourth on the Colleges all-time scoring list. Prior to his time at Hamilton he also gained experience coaching and recruiting at the junior college ranks as he spent one season as an assistant at nearby Mohawk Valley Community College. During his playing days, Misiaszek was a four-year letter winner under the guidance of head coach Steve Beville at NCAA Division III lacrosse power SUNY Cortland (2007-2010). The Red Dragons posted a 69-13 record during that span and appeared in the NCAA tournament all four years, including three consecutive trips to the national championship game. Misiaszek was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2009 national championship game when Cortland defeated Gettysburg College 9-7 for its second NCAA crown in school-history. In the national championship game he netted a career-high five goals. He also helped guide the Red Dragons to three consecutive SUNYAC Conference Championships. He finished his collegiate career with 73 goals and 29 assists for 102 points. He is one of just 43 players in program-history to join the 100 point club. As a senior captain in 2010, he was a third team All-American selection at midfield and played in the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division III Senior North-South Game. He played in all 21 games that year, scoring 39 points on 31 goals and eight assists. He graduated with a Business Economics degree from SUNY Cortland in 2010. Originally from nearby New Hartford, NY, he attended New Hartford High School and graduated in 2006. While at New Hartford he was a two-year starter on the lacrosse team and was named first team all-league while guiding the Spartans to a Section III title. He was also a two-year starter, two-time first team all-league selection and MVP of the football team. Brandon is the son of Laura and Ron Misiaszek and he has two siblings, Dave and Meghan. His brother Dave is a Utica College alum who played three years of varsity lacrosse (2006-2009) and currently ranks tenth on the Colleges all-time list with 55 career goals.
