Brian Marcantonio
Head Coach
Marcantonio was hired in the winter of 2014 by Athletic Director David Fontaine to be the mens soccer coach. In 2016 he was also named co-coach of the mens and newly created womens golf team along with Dave Clausen. Marcantonio came back to Utica after a brief stint at Hamilton College where he was an assistant for the mens soccer program. In the fall of 2014, he helped guide the Continentals to their first NESCAC Conference Tournament appearance since they joined the conference in 2011. He also helped legendary Head Coach Perry Nizzi direct the program's first All-NESCAC selection, Buck Reynolds. The Continentals season was highlighted by the program's first win over Williams College (2012 & 2013 NCAA Final Four Participant) in 86 years. The NESCAC is considered by many to be one of the most competitive conferences in all of Division III men's soccer. 8483 While at Hamilton he was responsible for designing training sessions and assisting in tactical and technical development. He was in charge of scouting and film analysis, and he was responsible for identifying and recruiting prospective student-athletes, along with creating a recruiting schedule and budget. In the off-season he was charged with game management and he also worked with the College's Wellness Program to provide classes for friends and family of the college, as well as the local community. Prior to Hamilton, he spent three seasons as an assistant coach here at Utica College where he helped guide the Pioneers to 31 victories and an Empire 8 Conference Tournament appearance back in 2010. He played a part in the two highest win totals in program-history, guiding the Pioneers to 12 wins in 2010 and 11 wins in 2011. He helped coach 11 All-Conference selections, including four Empire 8 All-Conference First Team selections, and three All-Region picks. His teams at UC also excelled in the classroom, producing ten scholar All-Region selections, and as a group UC was rewarded by being named an Empire 8 All-Academic Team in 2013, posting a grade point average of 3.22. "One of the most attractive things about coming back to Utica College is my familiarity with the environment," said Marcantonio. "It's a family atmosphere and a tight knit community. Everyone is here to help each other." During his playing days as an undergraduate at Hamilton, Marcantonio was a three-year starter, team captain, and an All-Northeast Region D3Kicks.com selection. He led Hamilton to one Liberty League regular season championship, two Liberty League tournament championships, and three NCAA tournament appearances. Hamilton posted an impressive 41-18-7 record during Marcantonio's four-year career. Following his collegiate playing career he spent one Summer as a player on the Western Mass Pioneers of the USL PDL, where he helped the team qualify for the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, while finishing third in the PDL's Northeast Division. A local high school player from Frankfort-Schuyler, Marcantonio was a four-year starter and two-time team captain. He guided Frankfort-Schuyler to three conference championships and a New York State Section III Class C championship. He garnered numerous individual accolades, including being named a three-time All-CSC selection. He is a 2010 Cum Laude graduate of Utica College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and he is currently pursuing a master's degree in liberal studies at his alma mater. As an undergraduate he was honored with dean's list distinction in the spring of 2009, fall of 2010 and the spring of 2010. He also currently holds an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and has intentions of pursuing further coaching licenses. Brian currently resides in Utica, NY
