Vanguard University Men's Soccer

Miramontes, Dodge's right-hand man for the men's team, plays a big role in recruiting, training and game-day coaching for the Lions. His long-standing experience as a player and a coach in the GSAC makes his presence vital to the Vanguard soccer programs. Miramontes, who is also a staff coach for the Pateadores club team, also has over a decade of high school coaching experience between Troy High School and Sunny Hills High School. Jesus, known as "Chuy", was a four-year starter and an All-GSAC player in 1996 at Vanguard (formerly Southern California College), playing an important role in the program's success in the mid 1990's. "I love Vanguard. I have been a part of VU since I was 13, when three of my brothers played here. I have watched this program develop into a place where young men want to play good soccer and become men of great character. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to work here at Vanguard. Jesus resides in Fullerton, CA. Shion returns for his second season the Vanguard Soccer Program as the Strength and Conditioning Coach, as well as handling Goalkeeper coaching duties. For the men's program he assist with the recruiting of future Lions. In 2015 under his watch, the Vanguard goalkeepers allowed the fewest goals in the conference with Gomez earning an All-GSAC berth.  Jahangiri was on the squad that reached the NAIA Quarterfinals in 2014. Previously playing stops for him were a redshirt year at UNLV and two seasons at Santiago Canyon College.  In 2016, he was named the head Boy's Varsity coach at Laguna Hills High School. Prior to that, Jahangiri was an assistant coach for Boys Soccer at Santa Margarita Catholic High School since 2010. Jahangiri holds a USSF "D" license as well as a NSCAA level III goalkeeping diploma. He graduated in May 2016 from Vanguard University with a degree in Kinesiology, emphasizing in Sports Studies. Shion is now in the Master's Program at Azusa Pacific University studying Physical Education with an emphasis in Sports Management and Leadership.
