Jeff Bowers
Head Coach
Bowers guided VWC to its most successful season ever in women's soccer in 2006, highlighted by an Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship and a berth in the NCAA Division III final four tournament, ultimately finishing 18-4-4 following a pair of wins in the national tournament. He also won a pair of games in the NCAA tournament while setting the school record with 20 wins in the 2003 campaign. That team captured the ODAC regular season title, earning a berth in the NCAA tournament before advancing to the national quarterfinals. He has mentored the Marlins to all six NCAA tournament victories. He has coached the professional womens soccer team, the Hampton Roads Piranha, during the summer of 2004 following the success of his 2003 season with the Marlins. Bowers holds a Premier License from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and a B License from the United States Soccer Federation. He has coached three State Players of the Year and four ODAC Players of the Year in his time as mentor of the womens soccer program. Prior to his time as the head coach of the Marlins, Bowers served as an assistant coach for the mens and womens programs at Messiah College. He has also been on staff at camps at the College of William and Mary, University of Kentucky, Ohio State, Messiah, and York College. He served as the head coach at Spring Grove Area High School and an assistant at York Catholic High School and York Suburban High School after graduating from York College with a degree in secondary education and accounting in 1995. He earned his masters in sports administration from Western Maryland University in 1998.

Kevin Smith
Assistant Coach
Kevin Smith joined the Virginia Wesleyan University Womens soccer staff prior to the 2022 season as an assistant coach. Smith has been coaching soccer for the past 30 years at the club, ODP, high school, and college levels. In addition, he has individually trained 4 U.S. National Team, 48 Regional ODP, 136 Virginia State ODP, and over 200 college players in his highly successful Smithsonian Soccer Academy in Southeast Virginia. He serves as the technical, cognitive, and creativity trainer in the Marlins soccer program. Smith has served as the head coach of the Virginia Beach City FC Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) team (2016-2018), Technical Director Smithsonian Soccer Academy (2004-present), Director of Coaching for the Hampton Roads Strikers (2011-2016), Southeast District Olympic Development Program Head Coach (2004-present), Virginia state ODP staff and as a club and high school soccer coach (1988-2018). Smith holds bachelor's and masters degrees from Old Dominion University and worked 29 years as a senior intelligence analyst and watch center manager with the Defense Intelligence Agency from 1982-2012. He has the following soccer certifications: NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma (2013), KNVB Royal Dutch National Youth Diploma (2003), NSCAA Advanced National Diploma (2002), NSCAA National Diploma (2001), NSCAA National Youth Diploma (1999), and USSF D License (1998). Smith is married to Pam Smith, and they have three daughters: Shannon, 36; Kelley, 28; and Taylor, 23.

Mario Hurdle
Assistant Coach
Hurdle begins his 22nd season with the women's soccer program in 2021. He is currently also is in his 20th year as the head girls soccer coach at Kellam High School in Virginia Beach, Va., where he has a Virginia state championship in 2005. His coaching background includes one year as an assistant at Longwood College, head coach at Virginia Beach Catholic High School, and head boys coach at Kellam High School and has been a Virginia Olympic Development Program staff coach. He holds a United States Soccer Federation "B" license, a National Soccer Coaches Association of America national diploma and advanced diploma. He has also received advance diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and a "B" License from the United States Soccer Federation. Mario played soccer in his native Naples, Italy, for five years. He also played for Virginia Beach's Princess Anne High School, and for Old Dominion University for one year before finishing out with three years at Longwood University. He speaks fluent Italian, French, and Spanish. Hurdle earned has bachelor's degree from Longwood University, majoring in health and physical education, with a concentration on teaching and coaching K-12. He is working toward certification in Special Education from Old Dominion University.
