Scott Pirnstill

Head Coach

Pirnstill and the V-Hawks returned to the National stage in 2015 after winning 10 straight contests over the final two months of the season. Viterbo was honored with its highest raking in program history (No. 20) and won the NSAA regular season and tournament championships before falling to No. 11 Baker in the NAIA Opening Round. The V-Hawks landed eight on the All-NSAA squad as Pirnstill earned his second Coach of the Year honor. In 2014, Viterbo reached double digit wins for the third straight season. In their first regular season contest, the V-Hawks dispatched NCAA DI University of North Dakota. In the MCC Tournament, Viterbo downed Clarke University 4-0, but fell to St. Ambrose University 3-2 in the semifinals to finish the year 14-4 overall. His fourth season was a breakout season for the V-Hawks as Pirnstill helped lead the team to a MCC regular season and postseason championship helping him earn MCC Coach of the Year honors. The postseason title gave the V-Hawks an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament which was their first ever appearance. The 2012 season saw the V-Hawks finish 15-3-1 overall and 5-1 in conference action. The 2012 team included the leading scorer in the NAIA, the fourth most assists by an individual player and two NAIA All-Americans. Prior to taking over as head coach in 2009, Pirnstill served as an assistant coach for the V-Hawks from 2001-2009. During this time, Pirnstill also helped start the first ever Viterbo University Futsal program in the area which has grown to over 450 players. As an assistant, the V-Hawks won their first ever Midwest Collegiate Conference Championships in 2006 and 2007. The V-Hawks also advanced to the NAIA Region VII tournament both of those seasons including a trip to the regional final four in 2006. Outside of Viterbo, Pirnstill has an extensive resume of playing and coaching experience. As a player, Pirnstill was selected to Wisconsin ODP U-16 and U-17 State teams and played club soccer with Racine United (Wis.). He then went on to play at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
