Terry Corcoran

Assistant Coach

Corcoran is in his second season as the head lacrosse coach at Wabash. He and assistant coach Todd Richardson helped the Little Giant team transition from club to varsity status in 2015. Wabash won its first varsity contest in school history on March 21, 2015 with a late goal against Calvin College for an 11-10 victory. Corcoran has led teams to 274 victories, ranking him seventh among active NCAA Division III mens lacrosse coaches and sixth among all-time DIII coaches with 10 or more seasons as a head coach. He was named the Division III Lacrosse Coach of the Year in both 1985 and 2005.   Eleven of his teams have earned NCAA mens lacrosse tournament berths and 50 of his players have received All-America honors.   Corcoran came to Wabash from Elizabethtown College where he led the Blue Jays to 71 victories in eight seasons, including the 2010 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) regular season championship. His 2009 Elizabethtown team led Division III in defense with a 5.6 goals-against average per game, while his 2007 squad allowed just five goals in 48 attempts in man-down situations to lead Division III in that defensive category. He coached two All-American and two Scholar All-American players the first such honors awarded to the Elizabethtown program. Corcorans players also earned MAC Player of the Year honors in three separate seasons.   Corcoran graduated from Hobart College in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. During his time at Hobart, he earned All-America honors in 1976, 1977, and 1978. He helped the Statesmen earn the NCAA title in mens lacrosse in 1976 and 1977. Hobart advanced to the title match in 1978 with Corcoran leading the nation in scoring while also earning the USILA Division II-III Attackman of the Year Award. Corcoran was inducted into the Hobart Athletics Hall of Fame in 1992.   He served as an assistant coach at Corning East High School in New York for two seasons, guiding the team to the quarterfinals of the New York State High School Lacrosse tournament before returning to Hobart as an assistant. The Statesmen captured two more NCAA Division III titles during Corcorans three seasons at his alma mater. He served as an assistant coach at Princeton University from 1981 to 1982, and then was named head coach at Washington College in Maryland. The Shoremen made the NCAA Division III mens lacrosse tournament 10 times in 12 seasons with Corcoran at the helm, including four NCAA Finals appearances. Forty-eight of his players earned All-American honors. He coached two Division III Attackmen of the Year, two DIII Midfielders of the Year, three DIII Goalies of the Year, and one DIII Player of the Year. Eighteen players were named to the North/South Senior All-Star Game. Corcoran was also named an assistant coach for the 1990 USA World Lacrosse Team Champions while coaching at Washington.   He moved to the University of Pennsylvania in 1994, rebuilding that program by recruiting 22 players in two seasons, which produced three All-Ivy League individuals. Corcoran left to start the Skidmore College program in 1996. The Thoroughbreds produced their first winning season in the third year under Corcoran. His players received six All-America awards with two players earning two-time All-America honors. His 2001 team was an Upstate New York East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Finalist and earned its first top-25 USILA ranking in 2001. Skidmore won the Liberty League Championship and advanced to the NCAA DIII Quarterfinals in 2005 while finishing 14th in the final USILA rankings.   Corcoran has been inducted into the Corning, New York Sports Hall of Fame (1984), the Washington College Athletics Hall of Fame (2010), and the Skidmore Athletics Hall of Fame (2012 as part of the 2005 Team induction).
