Boring (Slippery Rock '94; Third Year with Cross Country, Fourth Year with Track & Field) was announced as the new head coach of Washington & Jefferson's cross country and track & field programs in January of 2014. In cross country, Boring coached the mens team to a second place finish at the 2015 Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships after finishing 10th the previous season. Harley Moyer and Shane Burkhart finished second overall and seventh overall, respectively, earning First Team All-PAC honors. Theo Kioussis claimed Second Team All-PAC laurels after finishing 11th. With the turnaround, Boring was named the PAC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year. Throughout the course of the season, W&J runners claimed PAC Runner of the Week three times, the most among any of the league's schools. In 2016, Boring had six Presidents in the ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships and two in the Indoor Championships. On the womens side, Boring oversaw three individual PAC championships. Lauren Williams-Wiles won the outdoor 100-meter dash and high jump, as well as the indoor 60-meter dash. For the men, three runners took home individual championships. At the outdoor conference championship meet, Dwight Nelson won the 400-meter hurdles. Indoors, Harley Moyer won the 5000-meter run and Benjamin Waugh claimed first in the high jump. In total, the 2015-16 indoor and outdoor track & field seasons saw the Presidents' freshmen break 14 school records, with two more falling by veterans. Between men's and women's cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field during the 2015-16 school year, W&J student-athletes secured 13 ECAC Division III South Rookie of the Week honors, far and away the most of the 44 schools that comprise the ECAC South. At the 2015 PAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Brook Burns won the league crown in the women's high jump. In his first track & field season with the Presidents, Boring oversaw Cheyenne Mangold's third-career All-America finish when she placed eighth in the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. In his inaugural campaign, six W&J student-athletes qualified for the ECAC Outdoor Championships and three participated in the ECAC Indoor Championships. At the PAC Outdoor Championships, Mangold was named the PAC Co-MVP and Harley Straub earned an individual championship in the women's shot put with a distance of 38'0 3/4" W&J women finished third at the meet. Boring comes to W&J with over a decade of coaching experience at the high school level.  Most recently, Boring served as the head coach of the cross country and track & field programs at Mars High School, located just north of Pittsburgh.  During his time at Mars, he produced 23 total PIAA qualifiers and his 2013 girls team captured a WPIAL AA Championship.  The 2012 Mars boys cross country team was the WPIAL AA runner-up. During the spring season, he led the 2013 Mars boys track & field team to its first-ever WPIAL AAA playoff appearance and coached three student-athletes to new school records.
