Roy Dunshee
Head Coach
Roy Dunshee joined Washington College in 2012 and has guided the team to national prominence. The 2023 Shoremen advanced to the NCAA Final Four, finished as the top seed in the Centennial Conference tournament, and finished the season ranked #4 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll. Coach Dunshee and his staff were named Coaching Staff of the Year in the Centennial. The 2025 season saw the Shoremen top #24 Mary Washington and earn ties with #18 Catholic and #24 Muhlenberg. Four players earned All-Centennial honors. In 2024, Dunshee led the team to its fourth straight Centennial Conference Tournament, a program-best, and won his 100th career game in a 1-0 victory at #19 Rowan on October 9. The Shoremen finished the 2022 season with the ninth ranked defense in the country. The team allowed only three goals in conference play and captured the #2 Seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament for the second year in a row. In 2021, the Shoremen earned their first Conference Championship and advanced to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. They won a program-record 15 matches and finished #10 in the D3soccer.com Poll and #14 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll. For their efforts, the Shoremen placed six players on All-Conference teams, and Coach Dunshee and his staff were awarded the 2021 Men's Region V Staff of the Year. In 2016, Dunshee guided the Shoremen to their first trip to the Centennial Conference Tournament, reaching the semifinal round after knocking off Dickinson in the first round, 1-0. Prior to coming to Washington College, Dunshee spent four seasons as the head coach at Severna Park High School in Severna Park, MD. In his four seasons, he led the team to a record of 56-10-4 and three regional championships. He also spent five years coaching at St. Mary's Catholic High School and nearly two decades as Regional Director for Coerver Coaching. During the winter and spring of 2010, Dunshee served as an assistant coach for Division I Northwestern University, designing and implementing winter and spring training sessions and game plans. Northwestern went on to win the 2011 Big Ten Championship. Since 2007, Dunshee has worked as an instructor for United Soccer Coaches and in 2019, received the prestigious “Mike Berticelli Excellence in Coaching Education Award”. Dunshee earned a B.A. in Journalism from the University of South Carolina, where he teamed with Shorewomen Head Coach Tom Reilly for a four-year record of 54-19-5. His additional education includes a Juris Doctorate from George Mason University School of Law and an executive certificate in leadership from the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University. Dunshee's coaching certifications include USSF A, B, C, and D licenses, US Youth Soccer Y license, and USC Premier, Advanced National, and National Diplomas. His additional professional experience includes five years as an attorney and thirteen years as a restauranteur.

I was a goalkeeper at Washington College for four years, winning the centennial conference and advancing to the sweet sixteen. Currently I am coaching the mens and womens goalkeepers at Washington College. This past season our mens and womens keepers both earned second team all conference and multiple defensive conference player of the week awards.

Ryan Shera
Assistant Coach
Ryan Shera joined the Shoremen in the summer of 2021 and his four seasons with the team have been the most successful in program history. In that span, the Shoremen finished first or second in the conference three times, captured a Conference Championship and earned two trips to the NCAA Tournament finishing in the Sweet 16 in 2021 and the Final Four and 2023. His efforts were acknowledged with the 2021 United Soccer Coaches Region V Coaching Staff of the Year award and the 2023 Centennial Conference Coaching Staff of the Year. Prior to his arrival in Chestertown, Coach Shera had stints with youth clubs in Southern California, Nevada and Maryland as coach, educator, and director. His work with refugee players in the Yalla Soccer Club in San Diego was featured on ESPN, NPR, and other national media outlets and in 2016 Ryan was a featured presenter at the US Soccer Foundation Urban Soccer Symposium. Ryan’s coaching certifications include the USSF A license, the United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma and the US Soccer National Youth License. He has attended coaching courses in Holland, Belgium, Croatia, and Northern Ireland under the tutelage of World Football Academy educators Raymond Verheijen and Marcel Lucassen (former Head of Coach & Player Development at Arsenal). Ryan played collegiately at Fordham University and Dickinson College and played high school soccer at St. Mary’s of Annapolis under Coach Roy Dunshee. He is a graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law, Order of the Barristers. He served as a federal law clerk in the Southern District of California before entering private practice.

James Bedrock
Assistant Coach
James Bedrock returned to his alma mater as a volunteer assistant men's soccer coach in August 2019. Bedrock was a four-year member of Shoremen Soccer from 2007-10 and served as a captain as a senior. During his time with the Shoremen, the team has reached four Centennial Conference Tournaments, two NCAA Tournaments (2021 and 2023) and the 2021 Centennial Conference crown. The Shoremen reached the Round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament in 2021 and the Final Four in 2023. In his four years with the Shoremen, he played both in the field as a midfielder and back and as a goalie. In goal, he notched a pair of shutouts in his career in 12 career contests and played in 37 all-time matches, notching a goal and an assist for three points. Bedrock earned his degree in Economics from The College and served as the sports editor for The Elm during his time at Washington.
