Masters is in his sixth season as an assistant football coach and second season as offensive coordinator at Wayne State College. The former Wildcat standout receiver was promoted to offensive coordinator following the 2014 season and will also coach quarterbacks after serving as wide receivers coach the previous four years. Masters served as the wide receivers coach during the 2013 and '14 seasons and worked as a graduate assistant wide receivers coach for WSC in 2011-12. He also served as an intern coach in 2010 working with tight ends. Masters, a graduate of Storm Lake High School in Iowa, finished his Wildcat career with new school records of 258 catches and 3,863 yards. He set a then NCAA Division II record by catching at least two passes in 46 consecutive games (every game he played in a Wildcat uniform in his four years at WSC). As a senior, he was a First Team All-NSIC South Division selection and was one of 24 candidates for Harlon Hill Trophy, given to the top player in NCAA Division II college football. As a junior in 2007, Masters hauled in a career-high 80 receptions for 1,179 yards to earn First Team All-NSIC South Division and Daktronics First Team All-Super Region #3 honors, helping WSC to a 9-3 record and the school's first-ever trip to the NCAA Division II playoffs. Masters had 64 catches for 1,097 yards in 2006 as a sophomore, making him the first-ever WSC receiver to record back-to-back 1,000 yard receiving seasons. Scott McLaughlin
Assistant Coach
McLaughlin moves into his 10th year as an assistant football coach and second season as defensive coordinator at Wayne State College. McLaughlin was promoted to defensive coordinator following the 2014 season after serving six seasons as special teams coordinator and linebackers coach. He also worked with the defensive line for four seasons prior to being special teams coordinator. Scott is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Omaha and played defensive line for the Mavericks. He also served as a student assistant at UNO and worked as the team's video coordinator for three seasons before coming to Wayne State College. McLaughlin earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in continuing education and received his master's degree at Wayne State College in sport management in May, 2009. Scott and his wife Lindsay reside in Wayne with their sons Cooper and Noah. Updated 7/25/16
