Coach Martin had already been serving as the Associate Head Baseball Coach at Webber from 2017-2019. He also manages the Saugerties Stallions of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) during the summers.. During Martin's first full season as the Head Coach of the Warriors in 2021, Webber tied for third place in The Sun Conference during the regular season and earned the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament. Martin also helped coach three Second-Team All-Sun Conference players (Norberto Navarro, Bryce McDonald, Rey Rodriguez) and the TSC Freshman of the Year (McDonald) during that season. In 2022, Martin coached the Warriors to their fourth Opening Round and National Tournament appearance. Webber won its first Opening Round Championship and earned its first NAIA World Series appearance in the history of the program. The Warriors would go on to finish seventh in all of the NAIA. Coach Martin first returned to coach at Webber in the spring of 2015. Since 2016, the Webber offense has rewritten its respective record book, setting new records for runs scored, home runs, extra base hits, total bases and stolen bases to name a few – while tying a school record for overall fielding percentage. From 2016-2018, the team won more games than any other three-year span in the program’s 25-year history – setting single season records for wins, conference wins and NAIA wins. The Warriors have also been consistently recognized in the NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll during Martin's time with the team. After helping lead Webber to its first ever NAIA National Championship Opening Round appearance in 2017 as a No. 2 seed (going 1-2 in the Lawrenceville Bracket), Martin and the Warriors won their first ever Sun Conference Tournament Championship in 2018 and advanced to the Opening Round as a No. 2 seed for the second year in a row (going 2-2 in the Montgomery Bracket). In 2019, Webber made the Opening Round as a No. 2 seed for the third year in a row and went 2-2 before finishing as the runners-up in the Kingsport Bracket, finishing one win shy of making the team's first-ever NAIA World Series appearance. Martin joined the Warriors after spending four seasons at Polk State College, where he helped lead the program to three Suncoast Conference championships, a state title, and a berth to the NJCAA JUCO World Series. Martin, a Winter Haven native, brings high school, collegiate and professional coaching experience to the program. At Webber International, his responsibilities include assisting in all facets of the offense, as well as recruiting. During his tenure at Polk State, the program led the state of Florida with a combined 162 wins in 4 seasons, while being ranked #1 in the state of Florida/Region 8 all 4 years, also ranking in the top 10 nationally every year. From 2011-2014 Polk State had 42 All-Suncoast Conference Selections, 9 All-State Selections, and in 2014 Daniel Sweet was named the State Player of the Year. Throughout that time, 43 of the program's players moved on to four year programs. Since joining the staff in 2010, Polk State's offense consistently led the conference in offensive categories and under Martin's tutelage the program broke several offensive records including runs, RBI, doubles, triples, at-bats, walks, stolen bases and hit-by-pitches. Before joining the Polk State staff, Martin coached for one season as an assistant at Florida Southern College. While there, he assisted with offensive instruction, handled outfield, base running duties, and served as the first base coach. In 2010, FSC won 41 games, was ranked as high as #1 nationally, and made an appearance in the Regional Tournament. Prior to Florida Southern, Martin served as an assistant coach at Winter Haven High School from 2006-2009, and spent the summer of 2009 as an assistant coach with Cotuit Kettleers of the prestigious Cape Cod League. Before making the move to high school coaching, he coached professionally for the Florence Freedom of the Independent Frontier League in 2007. Martin played collegiate baseball at Santa Fe Community College, where he was a First Team All-Conference selection in 2004. He transferred to Webber International University for the 2005-2006 seasons. In 2006, he was a First Team All-Sun Conference selection, a First Team All-Southern Region choice and an Honorable Mention NAIA All-American. After graduating from WIU in 2006 he signed a free agent contract with the Cleveland Indians and later signed with the Florence Freedom of the Frontier League. He is the son of former Philadelphia Phillies Manager Charlie Manuel and currently resides in Babson Park, Florida with his wife Laura and their children, daughter Charlotte and son Val.
