Phillip Maestas Bohn
Head Coach
Since his hiring, Bohn has established himself as the winningest coach in school history. Accumulating a winning record in each of his four seasons, Bohn has complied an overall record of 63-30-5 and a conference record of 33-12-5. The 2018 season stands as the best season in program history thus far as the Pilots finished 15-5 and won their first ever RRAC regular season title. In Bohn's first season at the helm, the Pilots finished with a 12-6 overall record and a 5-5 record in the RRAC. The Pilots closed out the season by winning four of their final six conference games including a three game win streak against Jarvis Christian, Texas A&M Texarkana, and Wiley College. For the 2018 season, as mentioned, Bohn led the Pilots to a 15-5 overall record and a conference record of 10-1. That season, the Pilots lost their first conference game of the season before winning their final 10 to claim their first ever RRAC regular season title. Bohn was named the 2018 RRAC Coach of the Year, the first LSUS men's head coach to claim that award. The 2019 season was another successful one for Bohn and the Pilots. A very competitive season ended in a 12-6-3 record for the Pilots, and resulted in the first NAIA Opening Round appearance in program history. The Pilots also finished the season with a conference record of 7-1-1. The 2020-21 season was impacted hard by the COVID-19 Pandemic as the season was pushed from the Fall of 2020 to the Spring of 2021. In a season full of never before seen obstacles, the Pilots and Bohn still managed to finish the season with an overall record of 12-6-1 and a conference record of 4-2. The Pilots won their opening round match in the RRAC Conference Tournament against Our Lady of the Lake, 2-1. The 2021 season was another successful one for the Pilots with Bohn at the helm. They finished the season with an overall record of 12-7-1 and a conference record of 7-3-1. They concluded the regular season winning six of their final seven games to earn the four seed going into the conference tournament. They won their quarterfinal matchup against Southwest, 5-0, before dropping their semifinal match to Houston-Victoria, 1-0. Bohn came to Shreveport after four previous stops as a head coach. His most recent stop was in Salina, Kansas, at Kansas Wesleyan University where he compiled an overall record of 37-18-5 and was an impressive 23-4-3 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC). In eight seasons as a head coach for mens soccer Coach Bohn has compiled an overall record of 81-65-10 while supporting a 28-10-3 record in conference play. During his time at Kansas Wesleyan, he had players represent KWU on the All-KCAC teams, All-Plains Region, Daktronics Scholar Athletes, and the Academic All-KCAC teams. Bohn arrived at Kansas Wesleyan in July of 2014 after serving as mens and womens coach at Central Baptist College in Conway, Arkansas during the 2013 season. While at CBC, he led the mens program to the quarterfinals of the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament (MCAC), and had one player named First Team All-MCAC and one player named Second Team All-MCAC. His womens team would have two NAIA Scholar Athletes. Before Central Baptist, Bohn coached four seasons as mens coach and three seasons as both mens and womens coach at Jamestown College in Jamestown, North Dakota. In 2012, he led the Jimmies to a school record 16 wins and a No. 16 ranking in the NAIA Top 25 coaches poll. His team also advanced to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round and an appearance at the NAIA National Championship Final Site. He coached the A.I.I. Player of the Year and was named the A.I.I. Coach of the Year. He also improved the GPA of his teams at Jamestown from 2.0 for the men to 3.16 and from 2.4 for the women to 3.17. Bohn also coached at NCAA Division III Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia for two seasons, leading the womens program to the most wins in program history in 2008 while improving the teams GPA to 3.3. He also served as Wesleyan Colleges sports information director during the same time period. He holds a USSF National B Coaching License and has NSCAA advanced regional coaching diplomas. Bohn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications with emphasis in Public Relations and Advertising from St. Cloud State University and is working on completion of his Master of Sport Science degree from the United States Sports Academy.
