Trish George

Head Coach

George was tabbed as the department's Aquatics and Fitness Center Director in January of 2013. Additionally, George serves the College's student-athletes as the Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) and represents the institution at regional and national events. George has piloted the Express to great success within the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Since the first league championship meet in 2010, George has secured five conference championships including three straight with the women's team (2012, 2013, 2014) and two with the men's program (2010, 2013). Her peers within the conference have named her Women's Head Coach of the Year (2013) and Men's Head Coach of the Year (2014) - no other coach within the North Eastern Athletic Conference has won five championships in both men's and women's swimming combined. The first Wells College Head Coach to claim a NEAC Championship, George also serves the Department of Athletics as its Aquatics Director, managing all facets of the Wells College Aquatic Center. Additionally, George has acted as the NEAC's swimming chairperson and assumed Senior Woman Administrator responsibilities in 2010. George is also an Authorized Provider in CPR/AED by the American Red Cross and also holds certifications in first aid and waterfront lifeguarding.  She is also licensed as a Water Safety Instructor. Prior to joining the Express, George swam collegiately at SUNY Cortland, serving as team captain during her senior season. A key part of the 800 yard freestyle relay team that set the school record, George also earned a bachelor's degree in Physical Education (K-12) during her time at SUNY Cortland. George was also a collegiate teammate of , the Head Coach of men's and women's swimming at NEAC-rival SUNY Cobleskill. A native of Copiague, N.Y., George resides with her husband Dave and sons Lucas and Phillip in Locke, N.Y.

Matthew Sleezer

Assistant Coach

Sleezer went on to set five individual records for Wells and was a part of five record-setting relay teams. As a junior, Sleezer was selected as the Wells College Male Student-Athlete of the Year, North Eastern Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year and his teams Most Valuable Swimmer. Primarily a freestyle swimmer, Sleezers fastest times in the 50 Yard Freestyle (21.94), 100 Yard Freestyle (50.02), 200 Yard Freestyle (1:55.80) and 1,000 Yard Freestyle (11:28.87) stand as the all-time program records. In 2014 at the NEAC Championship, Sleezers sub-one minute time (59.69) in the 100 Yard Backstroke broke the nearly four-year-old program record. Sleezer has won NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week honors six separate times and has earned All-Conference honors multiple times for his performances at the leagues championship meet. A NEAC Scholar-Athlete selection in 2014, Sleezer graduated with a degree in History and a minor in Elementary Education this past May. In addition to his coaching duties with the Express, Sleezer represents the College as an Admissions Counselor.
