Ed Muntz

Head Coach

Muntz guided his squad to an 8-8-2 overall record and another CAC postseason appearance. Under his mentoring, both Chelsi Biener and Kelly Edmunds were named to the All-CAC Second Team.  In 2011, Muntz helped a roster with just two seniors to the program's largest increase in victories after winning just three games the season prior.  Wesley won five of their first six games before hitting the meat of the CAC schedule. The Wolverines featured a youthful roster in 2009, with 16 freshmen, three sophomores and six juniors.  The team, however, returned to the CAC postseason, giving the Wolverines six conference playoff appearances in the past seven years.  Six of the squads seven wins on the season came via shutout. Among the 2008 team's eight wins were seven shutout victories.  The squad also featured an All-CAC pick and two NSCAA East All-Scholar team selections.  The Wolverines turned in successful first season in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) in 2007. The team tied the 2004 squad's school record with 12 wins and Wesley advanced all the way to the semifinals of the conference tournament. Coach Muntz also recorded his 100th career victory during the season and Wesley ranked among the national leaders in scoring, finishing the year 16th with 3.67 goals per game. The Wolverines had their best season under Muntz in 2004, going 12-6-3 overall and a 5-3-2 conference mark and first ever appearance in the PAC Championship game. An accomplished student-athlete at Wesley, Muntz still holds every season and career scoring record in school history and was inducted into Wesley's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009.  A member of the class of 1994, Muntz led the men's soccer program to a four year record of 42-24-2, finishing his career with 43 goals and 31 assists for 117 points.  His 1991 season of 17 goals, 12 assists and 46 points also rate as the best in school history. Muntz also served as team captain for two years. Following his career at Wesley, Muntz became the men's assistant coach for the Wolverines. He served for one year under current head coach Steve Clark, then became head coach of the women's program in 1995. During his tenure at Wesley, Muntz has spent several years on the Delaware Olympic Development Program (ODP). After three years of staff coaching with ODP, Muntz became the Delaware Girl's State Director for ODP. Presently, he has stepped away from ODP, yet he continues to play a role with Delaware soccer. In the summer, he continues to run the Wolverine Soccer Camps here at Wesley College. Muntz also served as head coach for the Wesley men's tennis from 1995-2008, posting 10 winning seasons in 14 years.
