Western New Mexico University Men's Cross Country

Campos recently completed his eleventh season back as either an assistant or head coach with WNMU following the 2014 campaign.  Coach Campos has been synonymous with Silver City and WNMU having been around the program for over a decade. He hosted and ran the 2013 RMAC Cross Country Championships in which women's runner senior Nicole Luna nearly claimed All-Conference honors finishing just a few spots back against a loaded and nationally-ranked field. The team claimed a pair of women's open titles in the fall at the George Kyte and University of Arizona Invitationals. Other top performances included second at the NMHU Jamboree and third at the Triton Invitational. The men started the season with three straight third place finishes at the George Kyte, University of Arizona and NMHU Jamboree. He has also helped keep track alive at WNMU, taking some of his cross country runners to a few meets throughout the spring season.  Coach Campos returned to WNMU in 2004 to help lead the cross country team with a wealth of experience and a table full of impressive accomplishments, both as a runner and as a coach. A year later, he helped guide the cross country teams to tremendous success as both the men's and womens' teams won the Heartland Conference Championships in 2005.  Coach Campos served as an assistant for his first two years and moved up to the top spot after a change in staff. Having coached distance running since 1995, Coach Campos has worked with many distance runners and his charges have brought his technique to a variety of venues with great success, including professional distance runners based out of Mexico from 1995-2001. Campos' athletes have campaigned in the World Cross Country Championships in Cape Town, South Africa, World Track and Field Championship in Seville, Spain. Coach Campos is a 1996 graduate of WNMU and was a member the cross country team in 1994.
