James Williams

Head Coach

Williams earned his bachelors degree in physical education and his masters degree in guidance and counseling from Southeast Missouri State University. He places a great value on academic success. Williams has experienced success coaching at the NJCAA, NCAA, and USATF levels. As a result, he has been named to several coaching and administrative positions both nationally and internationally. During his coaching career he has been selected as both coach and manager including:  two world championship teams; seven USATF national teams; serving as president of the NCAA Div. II Track Coaches Association; chairing the mens sprint development committee for USATF; coaching Olympic festival teams; and serving as assistant competition manager for the 1996 Olympic Games. Williams has worked with some of the very best athletes in the world of track and field and brings that level of expertise to the athletes at Western Texas College.

Trinity Williams

Assistant Coach

Williams begins her fifth year coaching the Western Texas College track and field teams. Williams is looking to build on her four previous outstanding seasons. She will serve as the Westerners assistant jumps and sprints coach Williams possesses a very impressive resume as both a coach and athlete. As a former junior college track and field athlete, a two-time California Junior College champion in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes and NCAA II All-American and national champion in the 55 and100 meter dashes, she holds the insight necessary to guide athletes that are striving for similar goals and careers. Williams was the only female inducted into the Encinal High School Hall Of Fame in 2009. She is a two time Olympic Trials qualifier, and has authored several fitness articles.  Williams has successfully coached both male and female athletes at the NCAA and post-collegiate levels. Coach Williams has slowed her track & field athletic career down to competing at the USATF Masters level. In USA rankings, Williams ranked 4th in the 100m and 6th in the 200m in 2008, 30-35 year age division. In 2015, she ranked 4th in the 100m. In 2015, Williams ranked 14th in the world in the 100m, 35-40 year age division. Remaining committed to an active life style, Williams began Mixed Martial Arts & Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2012. She has already begun climbing the rankings in this sport, having recently competed in the 2016 IBJJF PAN-AMS Championships in Long Beach, California. Williams finished with a bronze medal performance in the Blue Belt Adult Female Middle Weight division.
