Whittier College Women's Cross Country

Phillips has been on the staff at Whittier he has coached 65 percent of Whittier's men's and women's athletes listed on the all-time Top 10 runners for distances 800 meters and longer. All in all in his coaching he has seen 34 inductees to the Whittier College Athletics Hall of Fame (cross country) and coached the Poets to their first ever national championships appearance by any Whittier women's program (cross country). Phillips competed as a middle-distance/distance runner at the Division I level and can often be found running with members of the Poets. Phillips holds a Master's Degree in Physical Education and has taught in the Department of Kinesiology & Leisure Studies.
