Leslie Shevlin
Head Coach
Shevlin is entering her eighth season as the head coach of the Willamette mens and womens swimming teams in 2016-17. Shevlin helped Willamette swimmers set seven school records at the 2016 Northwest Conference Championships. She also guided the Bearcats to 13 All-Northwest Conference awards. Prior to joining the Willamette coaching staff, Shevlin was the assistant womens swimming coach at the University of New Mexico for a total of four seasons. She previously served as a graduate assistant at Duquesne University. In 2003, Shevlin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where she majored in Communication Studies. She received a Master of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from Duquesne in 2005. At UNC-Wilmington, Shevlin competed on the swimming team all four years. She also was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at UNCW. She was a graduate assistant swimming coach at Duquesne for two years. She had a variety of duties at Duquesne, including coordinating road trips, team building and serving as the primary recruiter. After completing her masters degree, Shevlin was hired as an assistant coach at New Mexico. Her primary duties were in recruiting and the coaching of the distance freestyle group. While working at UNM, she was a youth team assistant coach with the Lobo Aquatic Club. She also coached at the U.S. Air Force Academy Summer Camps in 2007 and 2008.

Brent Summers
Assistant Coach
Summers is in his second season at Willamette University in 2016-17 as the assistant men's and women's swimming coach for the Bearcats. Prior to joining the athletic staff at Willamette, Summers served as an adjunct professor at Portland State University and was an assistant site coach for the Portland Athletic Club. He attended college and swam at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo from 2005 to 2009. Summers was the team captain for his junior and senior years, a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council for three years, and was honored multiple times for academic achievement. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Management and Protection in 2010. Summers began coaching in 2009 at the San Luis Obispo Swim Club following the completion of his collegiate swimming career. In 2010, he moved to Long Beach and started coaching at Long Beach Swim Club. Summers also spent time as an assistant coach for the Wilson Classical High School girls' swimming team. In 2012, Summers moved to Portland, Oregon, to pursue a master's degree in Environmental Management at Portland State which he completed in June of 2014. Summers has coached for the Portland Aquatic Club at the Southwest Community Center. He also has taught swimming lessons at the Multnomah Athletic Club.
