Eric Reed
Head Coach
Reed, who has guided seven individuals to All-America status, joined the William Penn staff as an assistant coach during the 2007-2008 season. In 2012, he led 149-pounder Eric Burgey to the school's first title since 2003. Reed, who most recently was the head coach at Central from 2004-2007, also skippered the Wabash (Ind.) program from 2002-2004, guiding one All-American as well as helping the squad finish second at the Midwest Regional Tournament in 2004, the team's highest finish in 18 years. He has also been an assistant coach at both the high school and college levels. A 1994 graduate of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a degree in biology, Reed also earned his master's in science and sport science-pedagogy from UW-La Crosse in 2000. While at UW-La Crosse, Reed succeeded on the mat, garnering All-American honors twice. He has also organized and instructed various camps through the Midwest and has competed for the Hawkeye Wrestling Club. Reed is also a professor in the health and life sciences division at the University. He resides in Oskaloosa with his wife Gloria and their children Austin, Aidan, Max, and Luke. Aron Scott is in his third year as an assistant wrestling coach. A graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Industrial Technology, he was a national qualifier and three-time letterwinner for the Cyclones. Scott, a native of Oskaloosa, was a two-time state qualifier and one-time placer at Oskaloosa HS. He and his wife Danielle have three children--Karlyn, Gabriel, and Joseph. Ryan Groom is in his sixth year as an assistant wrestling coach. A graduate of William Penn University with a degree in Industrial Technology, he was a two-time national qualifier in college. Groom, a native of Oskaloosa, was a two-time state qualifier, taking runner-up honors once at Oskaloosa HS. He and his wife Erica have four children--Libby, Ryan, Aydan, and Ely. Chris Milburn is in his second year as an assistant wrestling coach. Milburn has extensive coaching experience, beginning at the youth level, helping guide the Newton (1977-1978) and Oskaloosa Kids Clubs (1992-2007). During his time with Oskaloosa, the squad won three state titles and had numerous individual champions. Most recently, Milburn was an assistant at Oskaloosa HS from 2009-2015, leading one individual to the state finals, one to a third-place finish, and numerous other to placings. Milburn graduated from Indian Hills Community Colleges EMT School. A native of Newton (wrestled nine years in Newton) and now residing in Oskaloosa, he and his wife Susie have three children and numerous grandchildren. Charlton Benjamin is in his second year as a graduate assistant wrestling coach. Benjamin graduated from William Penn University in 2015 with a degree in Sociology. On the mat, he was a three-time letterwinner, national qualifier, regional player, and co-captain. Born in South America, he grew up in Atlanta, Ga. and placed third in the state tournament at Miller Grove HS. Benjamin is currently working on his Master's of Business Leadership degree from William Penn.
