Harry Jennings

Associate Head Coach

Jennings has had great success with the golf program thus far, winning six straight Central Atlantic Conference Championships while playing in the five of the last six NCAA National Championships from 2011-2016. He is extremely proud of his players and is excited about the new players coming in this fall. Coach Jennings hosted four CACC Conference Championships (and will again host the 2017 CACC Championships), while his squads participated in the championship each year, winning the tournament in six consecutive years from 2011-2016. He also hosted one and participated in 12 NCAA Super Regional Championships. Wilmington's golf team was the first team in any sport in conference history to host a NCAA Super Regional, and was the first team in conference history to be ranked number one in the East Region six consecutive years. Wilmington also had the top ranked freshmen class in the nation during the 2010 season. During his tenure, the team achieved 39 first-place victories, 18-second place finishes, and has had 39 All-Conference players. The team had a National Ranking of 22nd in the nation in 2011. He has had 32 medalists, 11 Ping All-Regional award winners five years running, one Ping All-American recipient, seven CACC Players of the Year, four Rookie of the Years, numerous CACC Player of the Month and Player of the Week Awards, Rookie of the Week Awards, Delaware State Open low amateur score and two Delaware State Amateur winners. He has also coached eight players in the top ten in the East Region, and posted the lowest scoring average regionally two years running. The team won the east regional in 2011 and had a player win medalist by seven strokes. The team is also coming off its second Atlantic/East Super Regional Championship in 2015. Jennings was named the CACC Coach of the Year for his efforts the past four seasons from 2012-2015.  He also became the first coach in Wilmington University history to be named East Region Coach of the Year after the Golf Coaches Association of American, in conjunction with the Eaton Corporation awarded him in 2012, and recently earned his second Regional Coach of the Year award following the 2015 season. Currently, Coach Jennings is the Chair of the CACC Golf Coaches and a member of the Golf Coaches Association of America. This past season, Jennings took his team further than any other East Region program by earning a spot in the Top 8 at the NCAA Division II National Tournament following three rounds of stroke play. The team advanced to the Medal Match Play but fell in the quarterfinals to eventual 2016 NCAA Division II National Champion St. Leo University. Coach Jennings has been involved in the golf business and athletic achievement for many years. Coach Jennings is a golf instructor, performance fitting and equipment consultant, a licensed professional putting green designer, and the co-owner of Golfixx.com and The Perfect Swing Golf Academy. Coach Jennings emphasizes a mental approach, discipline and course management. Since his early involvement in school sports, he has driven himself to be the best in coaching and instruction. Deriving his organizational skills from his years as a player/instructor at the high school and collegiate level, his drive to succeed with his students is truly remarkable. Harry attended St. Elizabeth's High School in the early 80's, moving on to receive his degree from Wilmington University in Behavioral Science in 1989. During his tenure at Wilmington, he played basketball and baseball for the Wildcats. He earned a post-graduate degree in Elementary Education from Wilmington in 1994. Coach Jennings began his teaching career in 1989. As a coach, Harry has been involved in shaping the outlook and performance of many athletes. His role as a coach at the high school and collegiate level afforded him the opportunity to develop positive learning techniques and pass on his skill set to students and staff. Acting as the owner/director he formed "Thru-the-Hoop" Camps and Clinics, and carried on these successful ventures for many years. In 2003, Coach Jennings formed KO Junior Golf Tours and Camps to serve the burgeoning Junior Golf market with instruction, golf equipment, and golf wear. Conducting a Golf Skills Competition yearly for KO Junior Golf, many youths attained the experience of competition on the golf course as well as the building of self-esteem. Later in 2003, he formed the new magazine Junior Golf Illustrated catering totally to junior golfers. The magazine provides amplified instruction and tips, features on players and courses, as well as the statistics on junior golfers around the world. As the publisher/director/chief instructor, he has traveled around the country, playing and learning from the best in golf, and instructing the elite in junior golf.
