Inez Turner
Head Coach
Turner returns to lead the Lady Rams program after a stellar head coaching debut in her first year. Under her guidance, the Rams and Lady Rams won both of the 2010 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) men's and women's cross country championship as well as the 2011 CIAA Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship as well. For her efforts, she was honored as the 2011 C.E. "Big House" Gaines WSSU Coach of the Year last year and the CIAA cross country coach of the year. She joined the Winston-Salem State University athletic staff in the spring of 2010 when she became an assistant coach on the Rams and Lady Rams cross country and track & field teams. She joined the WSSU staff with a wealth of experience both as a coach and as a track & field athlete. With her extensive knowledge of track & field and conditioning, she will guide the next generation of Rams and Lady Rams. Prior to joining the WSSU coaching staff, Turner spent four seasons as an assistant track & field coach at North Carolina A&T where she held lead the Aggies and Lady Aggies to some stellar performances, including leading cross country team to a fifth place finish in the 2007 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship. She also spent two years as an assistant coach at the New York Elite Track Club where she was responsible for motivating up to 15 middle distance runners and assisted in the development of the sprinters in the club. She also worked a personal trainer during that period as well. As a runner, Turner was a decorated athlete who earned numerous honors. The highlight of her career came at the 1996 Olympic Games where she earned a spot on the Jamaican Olympic team. Turner continued to add to her honors when she was a 1994 Commonwealth gold medalist in the 800m run. She also won a Bronze medal in Athens, Greece in 1997. Turner also had a stellar collegiate career when she won a pair of NCAA Division I championships, winning the women's 800m run both in 1994 and 1995. Academically, she was also impressive, earning a spot on the Dean's list at Southwest Texas University in 1993 and at Barton County Community College in 1990-92. For her efforts, she was also honored with a spot on the Baron Community College Wall of Fame. She was also named the ISSA Athlete of the Decade for the 80s. She is a 1998 graduate of Texas State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sports Science.

Winston Morris
Assistant Coach
Morris as the teams assistant coach. With a wealth of experience and a strong connection to WSSU, Coach Morris is welcome addition to the Rams family. Prior to joining the Winston-Salem State staff, Morris taught math at the Mathematics, Civics, & Sciences Charter School of Philadelphia. He was also a track & field coach at Delaware Community College. Morris had some stellar success at the high school He led his team to 11 high school national championships at the famed Vere Tech and also served as a coach on the Jamaican National Under-19 team. Morris has earned numerous honors including being named the Educator of the Year (P.J.C & LS) four times. He has also earned a spot on the famed Penn Relays Wall of Fame and was named to the Vere Technical School Hall of Fame. Morris holds a Master of Arts degree in Education and is a 1998 graduate of Cheyney University. He is the father to one son, Jamil.
