Head Coach

Bomar enters his sixth season at the helm of the Wofford College cross country and track and field programs in 2016-17. Last season the program showed continue improvement, which was evident at the Southern Conference Championships. During cross country season, the mens team set a new mark for lowest point total and had the best finish in school history in 8th place. The women also posted the lowest point total and tied for the best finish in 8th place. Cisco Ferre earned All-Freshman Team honors for the men, while Rebeka Fadgyas and Alexandra Forster achieve the honor for the women. During the indoor track season, seven school records were set by the men and ten were set by the women. The men had the highest point total and tied for the highest finish in school history, while the women also had the highest point total and highest finish. The team earned ten All-Freshman Team honors and Joe Harbacevich was named All-SoCon in the 800 meters. Outdoors, the men added eight school records and the women had nine. At the Southern Conference Championships, the men set a school mark for points and tied for the best finish at seventh. The women, led by Alexandra Burgess with a SoCon title in the triple jump, had the best finish and most points in school history. The Terriers had 14 All-Freshman Team honors, while Joe Harbacevich, Conrad Heinrich, Alexandra Burgess and the womens 4x100 relay earned All-Southern Conference honors. During the 2014-15 season, the mens cross country team recorded the lowest point total in school history. During the indoor season, the mens team set five new records, while the women set six records. In the outdoor meets, the men had three record performances and the women had six records broken. The teams combined to have 29 student-athletes named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll. In 2013-14, Bomars cross country and track teams set a combined 15 school records. Alyssa Burkert was the first female track and field athlete to earn All-Conference honors since 2006. Wofford also hosted its first ever Southern Conference Outdoor Championship meet at the Viking Sports Complex at Spartanburg High School. The teams highlight of the 2012-13 season was the 2013 All-Academic Womens Track & Field team honors. As noted by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), Wofford s womens team had the highest cumulative GPA of 3.61 in all of Division I. The womens team was one of six SoCon teams to be honored. The mens track & field team was also honored posting a 3.07 cumulative GPA and was only one of four SoCon schools to receive the honor. On the track, the mens indoor team broke five school records, and eight records were broken for the women. In outdoor, Woffords mens team broke two school records, while the women broke 10 school records, with Burkert qualifying for the NCAA Division I East Regionals. During his first season at Wofford in 2011-12, Bomar had two new school records in cross country both for the mens and womens teams, four school records for indoor track and field for the men, and seven more for the women. Also in 2011-12, the outdoor teams set two records on the mens side, and 10 for the women. The season was highlighted at the Terrier Relays where the women broke four school records and finished first in all four events. The womens cross country team had its second highest finish in school history at the SoCon Championships finishing ninth place. Academically, he also had 31 athletes earn 2011-12 Southern Conference Honor Roll honors, the most in the programs history. Six different athletes earned SoCon Fall All-Academic Team and ten different athletes earned Winter and Spring All-Academic Teams under Bomars guidance. Before Wofford, Bomar served as an assistant at Western Carolina where he worked with the hurdlers and sprinters. WCU finished second in the indoor and outdoor SoCon Track and Field Championships on both the mens and womens side. Prior to his time with the Catamounts, he spent five years at King College--two years as head coach and three years as assistant coach. While at King, he coached seven NAIA National Champions, 27 NAIA All-Americans, 20 conference champions and 58 NAIA national qualifiers. He was also named the AAC Coach of the Year in 2009. Bomar spent his first three season as assistant track and field and assistant cross country coach before overseeing all programs as the head coach track and field coach in 2008. Bomar is 2002 graduate of Western Carolina and served as a graduate assistant from 2003 until 2005. In his first stint at WCU he coached 20 Southern Conference Champions, 36 All-Conference Athletes, 20 NCAA Regional Qualifiers and one Junior National All-American. He was also the assistant cross country coach for the Catamounts during that time. He was a part of the 1999 WCU squad which captured both the Southern Conference Indoor and Outdoor championships. He was an eight-time Division I letterman and a three-time All-Southern Conference student-athlete. A native of Spartanburg, Bomar was a multi-sport athlete at Chapman High School.

Mike Wilson

Assistant Coach

Wilson is entering his second year as assistant cross country and track and field coach at Wofford College. He is responsible for coaching athletes in the multi-events, throws, high jump and pole vault. He also serves as the recruiting coordinator.      In his first season with the Terriers, the squads set school record for point totals and finishes in cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field. A total of 27 All-Freshman Team honors were received, including in the mens decathlon, mens and womens heptathlon, and womens pentathlon. Alexandra Burgess won the Southern Conference title in the outdoor triple jump.      Wilson comes to Wofford from Tampa, Florida, where he served as an assistant track and field coach at H.B. Plant High School. There, he coached the field events and executed conditioning programs for the sprinters, jumpers and throwers. While living in Tampa, Wilson also worked as a strength and conditioning coach at D1 Sports Training, where he designed and implemented training programs for athletes ranging from children to professional athletes, including NFL players Lance Moore, Andrew Hawkins, and Javier Arenas. Prior to moving to Tampa, Wilson held the position of Assistant Track and Field Coach at Lees-McRae College from 2011-2013. There he was responsible for coaching all of the field events and designing strength and conditioning programs for the entire track team. He was also responsible for recruiting for all of the field events. During his time at Lees-McRae, Wilson coached three NCAA Division II national qualifiers (two high jump and one pole vault) and coached fourteen Lees-McRae College record holders.      Wilson graduated with a degree in Exercise Science from Appalachian State University where he competed in track and field. Competing in the pole vault, high jump, long jump and triple jump, he was a letter award winner all four years, an individual Southern Conference Indoor Pole Vault Champion in 2008, a six time team Southern Conference Champion for indoor and outdoor track and field, a four time All-Southern Conference performer, and was named Southern Conference Field Athlete of the Week in 2008.      Wilson is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA, USA Track and Field Level One Certified Coach and is currently completing his masters degree in Physical Education from the University of South Florida.        A native of Asheville, NC, Wilson is married to Becca Wilson who was also a stand-out athlete at Appalachian State and still holds the high jump record for indoor and outdoor track and field.
