Lisa Moreau
Coach
Moreau enters her 10th season as head coach of the field hockey program. In her first 8 years at the helm Moreau has compiled a 70-72 record. Moreau has an overall record of 112-108-4 after compiling a 42-36-4 record at Fitchburg State. In 2012, the Engineers finished at 11-7 which included a 4-4 record in the New England Womens and Mens Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). Coach Moreaus team has also been recognized for its high academic achievements as a slew of players took home both academic and athletic honors. The Crimson and Gray led the conference in 2011 with seven players earning NEWMAC All Academic honors and placed two players on the NEWMAC All-Conference Team. 2011 also marked the first time a WPI student-athlete took home All-America of the Year accolades. Celena Dopart (Washington, DC) was chosen as the winner of the Capital One NCAA Division III Academic All-America of the Year award for the Women's At-Large division as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Moreaus squad was also honored with a 2011 Gladiator by SGI - NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Award as announced by the organization last week. The Engineers also placed an eye-popping 17 student-athletes on the Gladiator by SGI - NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. Four seasons ago Moreau lead the Engineers to a career best 12-7 record and a trip to the ECAC semi-finals. The tournament saw the Crimson and Gray beat New England College 3-1 in the first round. Moreau enjoyed success during her second season, guiding the Crimson and Gray to a 11-8 mark and earning a coveted home game in the NEWMAC tournament. In the tournament, the Engineers won their first postseason game since 1999, when they rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat Babson 2-1. Named interim coach just prior to the start of the 2007 campaign, Moreau guided the Engineers through several key injuries to a 6-11 overall record. The Crimson and Gray narrowly missed the NEWMAC Tournament, coming up on the short end of a three-way tie-breaker. She arrived at WPI after a highly successful nine-year run as head coach at Narragansett Regional High School in Baldwinville, MA. During her tenure, the Warriors were an eye-popping 119-25-33 (.766 winning percentage) with eight undefeated Mid-Wach C championships. Moreau was the Central Division II Coach of the Year in both 2002 and 2006 and guided her 2002 squad to the Central Mass championship. Moreau boasts an impressive record as a college coach. She earned MASCAC Coach of the Year honors after leading Fitchburg State to a conference championship in 2003. Overall Moreau was 42-36-4 in her five seasons at the helm of the Falcons. She joined FSC after serving as the head coach at Narragansett in 1990, a year the Warriors were unbeaten in league play.
