Brian Chabot

Head Coach

Chabot is entering his eight season as the Head Men's and Women's Track and Field Coach, while also directing the Cross Country program at WPI. Under Chabots leadership the Engineers have produced six NCAA All-Americans, along 11 Academic All-Americans. Chabot has seen womens team place in four straight national championships, finishing a program best 18th during the 2013 outdoor season. During the 2013-2014 campaign six women qualified for the NCAA championships, with graduate student Julie Eagle placing third and second, respectively, in the high jump during the indoor and outdoor championships while also becoming the most decorated performer in WPI womens track and field history. In 2010 Chabot was named NEWMAC and NCAA Division III New England Womens Coach of the Year. The 2009 and 2013 NEWMAC Mens Coach of the Year, along with the 2009 NCAA Division III New England Coach of the Year has continued to see his mens team rank among the top programs in Division III New England. In 2014 the team finished second at the NEWMAC championship for the third straight year and four out of the last six. Senior Wesley DeChristofaro completed a stellar career by competing in the long jump at the NCAA outdoor championship. Prior to becoming head coach, Chabot served as an Assistant Coach for four years, working primarily with Sprinters and Jumpers, helping 38 of his athletes earn All-New England honors and eight garner All-ECAC distinctions. Prior to joining the staff at WPI, Chabot coached Indoor Track and Field at his alma mater, St. John's High School in Shrewsbury from 2000-01. Under Chabot's tutelage, the Pioneers set school records in the mile and the 4x800 relay. In college, Chabot was a standout cross country and track and field athlete at UMass-Amherst. Chabot was a two-year team captain in both sports for the Minutemen and received All-New England and All-IC4A distinctions on multiple occasions. He graduated from UMass in 1999 with a double-major in Psychology and History.

Miles Ketchum

Assistant Coach

Ketchum as part of the WPI track & field coaching staff and his third with the Cross Country program where he will coordinate strength and conditioning. In Track and Field, his responsibilities include the sprinters and hurdles. Last year Miles coached two NCAA qualifiers in the 100m hurdles and the 400m, two Academic All Americans, and saw six PI school records in the womens 100m hurdles, 400m, 400 hurdles 4x400m relay and for the men, 400m, and 4x100m relay. Miles, a 2012 graduate of Wheaton College (MA), was an All American in the 4x500m Relay in 2012, All Conference in 2012 and was Conference Champion in the 4x100m and 4x400m relay in 2012.

Mike Stomski

Coach

Stomski enters his 11th year at WPI as an assistant track and field coach, working with the throwers in 2016-2017. Stomski is a 1981 graduate of Worcester State and served as the throwing coach for the Lancers from 1982 to 1989. WPI has gained recognition as one of the better throwing programs in New England Division III. His athletes have consistently qualified the post-season year after year. In 2009-2010, Coach Stomski oversaw perhaps the strongest group of throwers WPI has ever seen. He coached the NEWMAC men and womens individual champion in the Hammer Throw, as well as the womens individual champion in the Shot Put. Four of his throwers garnered Division III All-New England accolades and those same four qualified for the NCAA Championships. Due to the tremendous success of his athletes, Coach Stomski was named the NCAA Division III New England Region Mens Assistant Coach of the Year. At the 2009 NCAA championships, Stomski guided Jarrett Arredondo to WPI's first All-America honor since 2000 when the junior finished seventh in the hammer throw. It capped a season what saw WPI throwers win three NEWMAC championships and earn six All-New England awards at the New England Outdoor Division III championships. While a coach at Worcester State, Stomski had a combined 16 indoor and outdoor NCAA qualifiers, with two earning indoor All-America and four outdoor All-America. His student-athletes won three Division III New England and three ECAC championships during his time at Worcester State. As a coach, Stomski was inducted into the Worcester State College Hall of Fame in 2006. Stomski has also served as a Central Massachusetts Track and Field Official since 1990.
