Andrea Ouellette

Head Coach

Ouellette enters her second season as the jumps coach for the men's track and field team while she begins her fourth guiding the long and triple jumpers. At the start of the 2014-15 season, Ouellette was also elevated to the role as the interim head coach of the women's indoor and outdoor teams. Under her direction six student-athletes have qualified for the Division III New England Championships in her events and Amanda Caldarone became the programs first Division III Outdoor New England long jump champion in 2013. Also during the 2013 outdoor campaign, two of her jumpers won MASCAC individual long and triple jump titles while she helped direct the Blue and Gold to their first-ever New England Outdoor Alliance crown. Coach Ouellette is a three-time Division III New England honoree in the triple jump (twice indoors) while she also earned All-ECAC Division III accolades during the 2008-09 indoor season. Coach Ouellette is a three-time MASCAC Champion in the triple jump and she has also earned MASCAC/Alliance honors in the 55-100-400 meter hurdles and the long jump. During her senior year, Coach Ouellette broke the school-record in the triple jump and provisionally qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor meet as she helped lead the squad to their first-ever MASCAC Indoor and Outdoor Championships. For her three-year contributions to the track and field team, she was recognized with the WSU athletics departments "Robert Devlin" Senior Female Athlete award.

Gary Jusseaume

Assistant Coach

Jusseaume enters his fifth season as head coach for the Worcester State University women's cross country team. Coach Jusseaume also guides the middle-distance/distance runners for the women's indoor and outdoor track & field programs. He previously served as the Head Coach and Director for Operations for the men's and womens Cross Country and Track & Field programs at Assumption College from 2007-10, after having served as an assistant coach from 2002-07. Jusseaume's first collegiate stint was as the head coach of cross country and track & field at Assumption from 1975-82. It was then that he created an indoor track & field program, as well as the women's cross country and track & field programs, both of which gained varsity status. During both tenures at Assumption, Jusseaumes athletes shattered and reset virtually every cross country and track & field record numerous times. Several female and male athletes competed at the NCAA Division II National Championships in cross country and track & field. Three student-athletes to date have been inducted into Assumptions prestigious Hall of Fame. While coaching at Assumption, Jusseaume also served as the head coach of the Worcester boys and girls track & field team that competed at the National Youth Games held in Detroit. The next year he coached middle-distance runners at the 1978 Friendship Games in Kingston, Jamaica. In 1980 he would turn down a TFA-USA offer to coach in Saudi Arabia, opting instead to remain at Assumption. Jusseaumes experience began at Marlboro High where his mens cross country teams went unbeaten and won successive Midland League titles. His indoor and outdoor track & field teams earned league titles as well. Jusseaume was also responsible for creating the first girls cross country and track & field teams at Marlboro. Between his two stints at Assumption, Jusseaume coached track and field at Maynard High where his teams posted perfect seasons and won four Mid-Wach C League Championships.  Jusseaume is a retired English and writing instructor and former WBZ-TV Investigative news journalist field-producer. He received his B.A. degree from Worcester State in 1973, an M.A. degree in English from Assumption College, and an M.A. in Journalism from Indiana University Bloomington. Coupled with extensive coaching experience, Jusseaume is a Level I and Level II (Endurance) USA Track & Field (USATF) nationally certified coach. He also holds a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTCCCA) Strength and Conditioning national certification. Jusseaume is two-sport member of the Lancer Hall of Fame having competed on the Worcester State cross country and track & field teams from 1969-73 under legendary coach Richard Okie OConnor. He is also a member of the USATF Association and both the Oregon Track Club and Greater Boston Track Club.

Mark Johnson

Assistant Coach

Johnson enters his 6th year as a coach for the mens and womens track & field program. Coach Johnson is in his 3rd year as the women's sprint coach and in his 6th year as the men's assistant coach. He will also guide the men's javelin throwers. Coach Johnson was a four year standout student-athlete on the track for Worcester State. In his four years he received All-MASCAC and All-Alliance accolades numerous times for his conference championships in the Long Jump, 200 and 400 meter dashes. In his junior year, he received DIII New England Outdoor Honors for his 4th place finish in the Long Jump and All-ECAC Outdoor honors for placing 5th in the 200 meters as a junior.  During his senior year, Coach Johnson was one of only seven Worcester State University athletes in history at the time to capture a DIII New England Championship title in the 200m as he won the Indoor Championship with a time of 22.37. Later in the outdoor season, Coach Johnson gained All-Open New England honors and All-ECAC honors in the Javelin with 8th and 4th place finishes, respectively. Coach Johnson set the school record in the javelin which was broken by his own athlete four years later. Coach Johnson was also a standout athlete on the men's soccer program at Worcester State. He was a four year starter on defense which saw him start a total of 72 out of a possible 76 games. Coach Johnson was named to the First-Team All-MASCAC squad in his senior year. Coach Johnson was distinguished with the Worcester State University Lancer Award for his dedication to soccer/track and field, leadership qualities and good sportsmanship.

Matthew Swett

Assistant Coach

Swett was recognized by the USTFCCCA as the New England Indoor Assistant Coach of the Year, while a male and a female student-athlete both earned All-American accolades in the hurdles under his watch during the season. He also helped coach Worcester State's first male NCAA Division III National Champion at the 2012-13 indoor national meet. Coach Swett is a former Worcester State standout athlete who still holds the schools pentathlon record and decathlon records as his 600 meter mark was broken two seasons ago. Among his other accomplishments, Coach Swett was the runner-up in the pentathlon at the Division III New England Indoor Championships during the 2004-05 season while he was also a New England Alliance Champion in the 2002-03 indoor campaign in the high jump. In the 2003 outdoor season, Coach Swett was MASCAC Champion in both the high jump and pole vault while he placed fifth in the decathlon at both the Division III Outdoor and Division III ECAC Championships. As a junior, Coach Swett also earned Open New England accolades for a runner-up finish in the decathlon 2004. En route to earning the distinction of being honored the Senior Male Athlete of the Year, Coach Swett sprinted to Division III New England honors in the 110 meter hurdles and he was MASCAC Champion in the outdoor high jump.
