Kyle Oaks

Head Coach

Oaks is in his third season as head coach of the Wright State swimming and diving program and is in his sixth season overall with the program. Oaks joined the staff as an assistant coach in September, 2010, after serving as an assistant coach for two seasons at his alma mater, the College of Wooster. For his three years as the Raider assistant coach, he was involved in all aspects of the program, including meet practice and meet management as well as recruiting, alumni relations and budget preparation. He was promoted to the head swimming and diving coach position in July of 2013. The 2014-15 campaign saw increased improvement from Oaks first season at the helm as the mens team jumped from 6th to 3rd place and the women from 7th to 5th. Throughout the year the Raiders broke numerous pool records, nine within their own facility and six others while visiting their opponents. At the conclusion of their season, the teams combined for 11 new school records as well as 11 NCAA provisional time standards. During the 2014-15 regular season, the mens team was ranked as high as 33rd in the country by CollegeSwimming.com while the womens program was voted on to the top 25 most improved list by CollegeSwimming.com as the program was picked 10th overall. Both teams achieved CSCAA Academic All-American status in the fall of 2014 and the women achieved that standard again in the spring of 2015. From 2004-08, Oaks was one of the top sprint freestylers for the Fighting Scots as well as a contributor in the 100 backstroke and on relays, regularly producing points at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships. In fact, he scored the maximum 12 times as an individual during his career with his most significant contributions being a pair of all-conference showings as part of the 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays in 2007. Oaks also served as a tri-captain during his senior campaign. A Franklin, Indiana, native, Oaks earned a bachelor's degree from Wooster in 2008. He has completed two certifications in corrective exercise and performance enhancement with the National Academy of Sports Medicine, owns his master's in Human Movement through Andrew Taylor Still University and is presently pursuing a certification in Sports Management and an MBA through Wright State University. Oaks lives with his wife, Adrienne, and daughter, Evelyn, in Vandalia, Ohio.
