Head Coach

Moses Jr. The 2016-17 academic year is Moses' 12th as coach of the cross country teams and his eighth as coach of track and field.      Xavier's accomplishments under Moses include:        Nine consecutive Gulf Coast Athletic Conference team championships in men's cross country: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.        Nine consecutive GCAC team championships in women's cross country: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.        Four GCAC team championships in women's outdoor track and field: 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015.        Six consecutive GCAC individual men's cross country championships: 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.        Four GCAC individual women's cross country championships: 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013.        Five team appearances each for men's and women's cross country at the NAIA National Championships: 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2014.        Nineteen men's team championships in cross country and 20 by the women.        Xavier's first CoSIDA Academic All-American: Joe Drexler-Dreis in 2008-09.        Xavier's first two-time CoSIDA Academic All-Americans: Matt Pieri and Javon Mead in 2011-12 and 2012-13.      Moses has been selected GCAC Coach of the Year in cross country nine times on the men's side (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014) and eight times on the women's (2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014). Four times he was the men's Louisiana Coach of the Year (2006, 2007, 2008, 2013) and he won the women's award a state-record five times (2006, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012). He is the only person to be voted Louisiana Coach of the Year in men's cross country consecutive times.      Moses in 2015 was selected Louisiana Coach of the Year in women's track and field by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.      Moses' student-athletes in 2015-16 had a combined grade-point average of 2.82 on a 4-point scale. Twenty-three of his student-athletes qualified for the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in 2015. Brent Kitto was second-team CoSIDA Academic All-America that year.      Moses also is Xavier's strength and conditioning coach. He has served as a rater on the NAIA top 25 men's and women's cross country polls.      Prior to Xavier, Moses was the men's track and cross country coach at Independence Community College in Independence, Kan., and coached an All-America javelin thrower. He also was the men's track and cross country coach for two seasons at Charleston Southern University in Charleston, S.C. There he guided 13 athletes to All-Big South Conference honors.      Moses competed on LSU's track and field team from 1988-91 as a sprinter (100- and 200-meter dashes, 400 relay) and was a member of the Tigers' 1989 NCAA indoor and outdoor championship squads. He received his bachelor of fine arts degree from LSU in 1994.      Moses has USA Track and Field Level 1 coaching certification. He was born April 8, 1968, in Baton Rouge, La. Moses married the former Kendra O'Bannon of Chico, Calif., on May 26, 2007, and he has a 21-year-old son, Joseph Moses III a former All-GCAC sprinter for XULA and a daughter, Gabrielle Amaya, born in 2012.     1 Drexel Drive, Campus Box 92, New Orleans LA 70125   Room 308 (third floor) of Convocation Center Annex, 3775 Fern Street   Weekday mornings

Jasmine Pulliam

Assistant Coach

Pulliam joined Xavier University of Louisiana in August 2015 as assistant coach for men's and women's cross country and track and field. Her primary duties include coaching middle-distance and distance runners and coordinating day-to-day recruiting.      "I'm very excited to have Jasmime on staff. She is a great addition," XU head coach Joseph Moses said. "She is a smart young lady. She is very energetic and has great knowledge of cross country and track and field."      Pulliam, 23, was a standout distance runner at Brescia University in Owensboro, Ky. She was a six-time individual champion in the NAIA's Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. She was the KIAC cross country champion in 2011 and won KIAC outdoor track titles in 2011 (1,500-meter run), 2013 (1,500 and 5,000) and 2013 (3,000 steeplechase and 5,000).      Pulliam led Brescia to KIAC women's cross country team championships in 2011, 2012 and 2013. She received her bachelor's degree from Brescia in 2014.      "Jasmine Pulliam is an outstanding young woman who will be an excellent addition to the staff at Xavier," said Brian Skortz, Brescia's director of athletics.      Pulliam is enrolled in XU's graduate school. She is a native of Louisville, Ky., and a 2010 graduate of Louisville's Butler Traditional High School.
