Chris Field
Head Coach
Field was ranked nationally both in Canada and the United States. He was the captain of the varsity tennis team at St. Thomas University in Miami in his senior year and, after graduating with a business degree in sport administration, travelled and taught tennis throughout Toronto, the Unites States and Australia. He has an extensive background as a junior program director and high performance coach in South Florida, and he has a first-class perspective on competitive players reaching their full potential. He is one of only a few tennis coaches in Canada to be a certified international professional (PTR) and a certified USTPA professional. In his first two years at York, Field has led the Lions women's tennis team to the OUA championships gold medal (2014) and silver medal (2015). In addition, they also won the inaugural Canadian University Tennis Championships in 2015 on home turf as the championships were hosted at the Aviva Centre. Chris Field

Ken Crosina
Head Coach
Crosina was named the Lions tennis program's head coach in September 2022 Crosina was named the OUA men's tennis coach of the year in 2024, winning the award for the first time and becoming just the second coach to do so, joining Michael Mitchell who won it three times (2007, 2009, 2011). The award came after he led his men’s team to their second OUA bronze medal in three years. They downed the McMaster Marauders 7-0 in the quarter-final of the OUA championships, before eventually capturing the bronze medal with a 7-0 victory over the Waterloo Warriors. Away from York, Ken is the Director of Tennis and Pickleball at Mayfair Clubs, which has hosted the last three OUA championships and will serve as host once again in 2025, and the announcer for the National Bank Open in Toronto. He’s a former Canadian National Doubles Tennis Champion, as well as a Provincial Singles and Doubles Champion. He also won gold in the Men’s Over 55 Singles at the 2025 US Open Pickleball Championship.

Melissa Cutler
Head Coach
Dr. Melissa Cutler has been serving as the head coach of the women’s tennis team since 2022. She led the Lions women’s team to a fifth-place finish at the 2024 OUA championships, as they won the consolation final by a 5-0 count over the Brock Badgers. Cutler enjoyed an outstanding junior tennis career, earning the top provincial ranking in the U-12 category. Nationally, she achieved a career-high ranking of 17th in singles and 8th in doubles during her teenage years. With over 25 years of coaching experience across all levels of the sport, she emphasizes the importance of developing solid fundamental mechanics to help prevent injuries. A certified Club Pro 2 instructor, Dr. Cutler spent two decades coaching at the Granite Club before joining Crosina at Mayfair in 2014. At Mayfair, she holds a dual role as High Performance Coach and Team Chiropractor. Dr. Cutler earned her Honours Bachelor of Arts from Saint Louis University and later graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. She holds certifications in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University, Active Release Techniques, and is a Certified Running Specialist through the Running Clinic. In addition to her clinical and coaching work, she contributes as a medical writer for the Ontario Tennis Association Magazine.
