Erin McAleenan

Head Coach

McAleenan came to York from the University of Lethbridge, where she has been the head coach of the Pronghorns for the past three seasons. In her time in Lethbridge, she guided the program to its best record in 18 years in 2012-13 while also creating an alumni association and developing the local Jr. Horns Basketball Club.   She has plenty of national and international coaching experience, most recently as an assistant coach with the Canadian cadette womens team this past year. She was also the head coach of Albertas U17 Canada Summer Games team in 2013 and an assistant coach for Canadas Pan Am Games team in 2011.   Prior to entering the coaching ranks, McAleenan had a four-year playing career at Acadia University, where she graduated with a bachelor of science degree. She went on to receive her education degree from Trent University and then her masters in coaching from the University of Alberta. She spent six years as a high school teacher in Port Hope, Ont., before beginning her post-graduate degree.      Erin McAleenan

Christa Eniojukan

Head Coach

Christa Eniojukan joined the coaching staff of her alma mater ahead of the 2021-22 season, and enters her fourth year as head coach of the York women's basketball program.   Eniojukan spent two seasons playingn with the Lions (2003-05) while completing her bachelor of education degree. She was the team’s most valuable player in 2005. Her playing experience also included three seasons with the Laurier Golden Hawks from 1999-02 while she earned her undergraduate degree in kinesiology and physical education, and she was also a two-time team MVP with the Hawks.   In the years since, she became a top coach with experience at a number of different levels. Most recently, she was the first head coach for the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks in their inaugural season in 2019-20 and she is also the head coach for the Academy for Student Athlete Development (ASAD) Durham Elite, a role she has held since 2016.   In addition to coaching, Eniojukan is part of multiple committees and associations supporting Black coaches and athletes, including serving as co-chair of the OUA’s Black, Biracial and Indigenous (BBI) Committee.   Eniojukan has spent many years working with teams provincially and nationally, most notably serving as the U17 Ontario provincial team head coach from 2014-17. She has won six national medals (four golds and two silvers) and in 2019 was named the recipient of the Susan Kitchen Trailblazer Award from the Coaches Association of Ontario. She is also the founder and program director of Active Scholars, a non-profit that operates summer camps and other programming with the unique combination of S.T.E.M. learning and sports development. She was the head coach of the Canadian U23 team at the 2023 GLOBL Jam tournament and served as an assistant on the staff of the silver-medal-winning Canadian U18 FIBA women's Americup team in June 2024.
